Tarantino put this into Kill Bill 2, it is a conversation beteen Elle and Bud, discussing Hatari Hanso swords (sp?), some believe it is a metaphor for the people who dissed Jackie Brown after Pulp Fiction and I believe it is true of Damien Rice: Elle asks Bud if the Bride's Hanso sword was better than his and he replies with something like... "If you are comparing Hatari Hanso swords, you have to compare it against every other sword made..." or something along those lines... I.E. the worst Hanso sword is still probably better than any other sword ever made... You get me or am I drinking too much coffee?

Hmmm, enough of the weird movie, metaphor crap... I like 'em all, but will skip Cheers Darlin' if I am in the car... It kinda gives me road rage but only because I have felt that bitterness before... That is a testament to his writing skills and ability to connect with the listener by the way and not an admission that it is my least fave song. I was lucky, as I played 'O' to death and hungered for more, I found this world with 'the professor' (my fave DR song to play and listen to) 'woman like a man' 'moody monday' and so on... It was like discovering a chest of gold.

I didn't like Cheers Darlin' until my ex-girlfriend started going out with a new guy. I'd play it to myself whenever I wanted to feel sorry for myself... I like the song now tho, it's quite interesting, if you listen closely there's lots of things going on. Vocally it's probably not that interesting, but the clarinet (or whatever it is - anyone know for sure, french-horn?) melody is great.

Hey..been reading the forums for a while...but don't think I've ever posted. Feel like I know all the regulars who post. Anyhow, I would say my least favorite DR song is Tongue. The lyrics are good but the whole thing overall just doesn't do it for me. O- Iused tofoward through Eskimo to get to Prague..(I used to think it was too much) but its grown on me since. Favorite is - Insane |
