i love that song, it's actually one his best songs, lyrically it's fantastic , very sad too and it "is not an anti-military song, it's not an anti anything song"

Lonely Soldier

Lonely soldier go home
Lonely but never alone
Good eyes see nothin' to shoot
Good feet feel good givin' up good boots

So ask your father how to fall
Ask your father how to fall
Like a leaf sttin' on the ground
Good for nothin' except kickin' around

She died with her hands stretched out
She died with a hungry mouth
She died with a mind full of doubt
And thoughts of weakening

So may your river never dry
And may your mouth never lie
And may you be satisfied to never know why
Or how to live again

Where'd you get those cuts in your hand?
Thought I told you about playin' in the sand
There's always someone careless with glass
Just like a question you don't want to ask

She died with her hands stretched out
She died with a hungry mouth
She died with a mind full of doubt
And thoughts of weakening

So may your river never dry
And may your mouth never lie
And may you be satisfied to never know why
Or how to love again

Lonely soldier go home
Lonely but never alone
Good eyes see nothin' to shoot
Good feet feel good givin' up good boots

It's simple. And sad.

It's Damien. I love it.

For a little while (a couple of weeks after it came out) it was my
favourite Damien Rice song, but thats purely because I'm starved of new
material, isn't "O" 2 years old now? I know he does a lot of new
stuff live, but since I can't get to his gigs, I'd love to hear some
new studio material

It's so universal, y'know. It means a lot, and perhaps something different to man different people.

I love how Damien's songs are like that.
