I really do hope they move it back to the Athenaeum, but I honestly would be surprised if they did. They already sent a mass email out to everybody that bought tickets and told people on facebook and twitter. For them to move it back would be a surprise. A pleasant surprise, but nonetheless a surprise. I would be doing backflips if it was moved back.
As for the Athenaeum being already booked, it's not according to their event calendar. Studios 1, 2, and 3 have something going on the 14th but not their main stage....which is where Damien would play. |

Kind of curious if there will be a way for those of us in the balcony to scoop up any better seats if people cancel and it is rescheduled. Guess I should probably call the theater if it comes to that.

Hi John - Can you believe it? It's not 100% confirmed in the office yet, but the day after we spoke Jam called us and asked about moving the show back here. We're all sitting tight until we know for sure so we don't have to confuse people any more but wouldn't that be great if our prayers were answered!? You'll be the first to know!

I spoke to the Vic today, they are saying that they still don't have any confirmation yet, but are supposed to hear something today. They said it will still be for the same date, Nov. 14.

Hey guys I emailed " Damien Rice Help"
See below I wrote -With the change in venues I was wondering if more tickets would be available for sale for the Vic since it is a larger venue. Or will the Vic be accommodating only those from the cancelled performance? Response- I do believe they're opening ticket sales up to fill the space. There would also be tickets returned by folks who can't make the new date. |

I don't think Warner has had much to do with it. It's JAM's show.

According to the Vic, announcement will be made tomorrow regarding the change in the venue. He said that he is 90% sure that it's going back to the Athenaeum.

Wow, that would be magnificent if it does. I was just coming here to check to see if there's been any updates.
As my wife said, Damien is elegant and should play at elegant places. The Vic is a great venue, but not really an elegant place to see Damien Rice. Rock shows are great there, don't get me wrong. But for Damien Rice, Chicago should give him the best venue we have. |

Thanks for the news! Doesn't seem like they would make an announcement unless they were in fact changing the venue right?

NEW INFORMATION on DAMIEN RICE
Dear Damien Rice Fans: After careful consideration and at Damien's request, the rescheduled November 14th 7:30pm Damien Rice show, previously destined for The Vic Theatre, will now return to the Athenaeum Theatre. All seat locations from the original performance on October 13th will remain the same. New tickets will be reissued for the rescheduled performance and reconfirmed by email to the original ticket-purchaser. Patrons who purchased tickets through the official Damien Rice website and The Athenaeum Theatre website or box office will receive a re-confirmation email indicating the new show date and time, as well as the original seat assignments. Confirmation emails will be sent by the first week of November. Patrons who purchased tickets at the box office window on the day of the show must bring in the original printed ticket to exchange for the new performance ticket. Patrons who purchased from third party ticket sellers should return to the point of purchase to obtain the re-issued tickets. We realize the path to Damien Rice has had many twists and turns, and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are confident, however, as proved by his short set on Oct. 13th, that Damien is well worth waiting for, and we are thrilled that he will return to The Athenaeum Theatre on November 14th. Patrons with questions or concerns are welcome to contact the Athenaeum Theatre Box Office at 773.935.6875, open seven days a week from noon till showtime, or email boxoffice@athenaeumtheatre.org. UP NEXT AT THE ATHENAEUM Comedian, actor, artist, musician, writer, and humorist, best known for his work as a stand-up comedian, being a contributor on The Daily Show and for his Comedy Central show Important Things with Demetri Martin. Now he's back with a new book and a tour to go with it! GET TICKETS TO The Persistence of Jokes! Website Website Copyright © 2014 Athenaeum Theatre, All rights reserved. I'm not sure if it was this thread, or all the people from it calling the vic and jam about it, but thank god it's back at the Athenaeum! What a perfect start to the weekend!!

Haha wow, I feel so bad for the people who bought through scalpers. Scalpers get to make twice the money, now, if they're true assholes.
So happy for you guys. Good job. |
