was my dream guitar for a while and now it's all mine.
unplugged and plugged it is the best guitar i've ever heard.

Me and my guitar It's a cheap one, but I am comfortable with it. It's had to put up wit hsome creative fixes tho. One of the cog things is pretty stripped so now I have to tune that the opposite way. One of the plastic pegs actually broke so we stuck one some other plastic thing. It's been through a bit, but I like it.

I do want to buy a new good one soon though. I'm looking in the range of AU$500 - 700.

Hehehe I never noticed that before. I've got another photo of me like that, but I'll post it in the picture thread because it doesn't involve my guitar

Default Takamine EG-15C

I enjoy this moderately priced guitar. Got it used for $265.00 a couple years ago, hardcase included.

I'm honestly not sure what kind of Alvarez this is, my guess is that it's a PD80S-12. This is my father's guitar and became my baby once I started playing. I just love the sound of a 12 String, and plus this is very old so its very brassy. I hope to get a guitar of my own soon, and it will definately be an Alvarez.

beauty 12 string! i used to have an alvarez 12 string that i bought used but some drunken idiot stepped on it and broke the neck they're harder to play and kill your fingers but they ring like a bell. i'll bet yours sounds beautiful!

heres me when i was 12 or 13 with my first baby. an alvarez

before most of you were a twinkle in your daddy's eye

i tried to pass it down to my daughter and she lost interest. then i gave it to my son but he really wants an electric and an amp... the finish on it has aged to a beautiful golden color and it sounds better than ever. i might take it back for myself to play.. i kinda miss him

i had a Washburn dreadnaught for awhile but it was too big. i like the smaller body styles too. i traded that in for a washburn oscar schmidt series electric-acoustic and i really like it but i don't have an amp or much of a reason to plug in.

My set up runs through the standerd Fishman Prefix electronics. My 414 was bought before Taylor introduced the ES System. But I run the guitar through, in this order; Korg DT10, Vox V848, Barber Tone Press, Boss DS-1, Line 6 DL-4, Boss Loopstation RC20XL, and then a LR Baggs PADI.

I mainly play on a Taylor 414-CE for my live shows.
For my classical work I have a Takamine EC132 and a custom built Robert Ruck.

And now I am on the hunt for a shiny new mandolin to waste away the hours with!

Default Martin and Ibanez : Depending or Level of Mid range

I use a Martin D-35 tuned 1/2 step low with Deadario Medium Phosphur Strings. Not the extended play either, they're too "tin-ee"

When I'm doing more "Picking" of notes up and down I use an Ibanez SG-10 Stephan Grossman. It's a concert box and so the mid-range is traded for sharper highs and lows.

Pick???? What's a pick?

Peace & Love

P.S. If you getting a nicer guitar (Martins, Taylors, etc.) There sound gets better with age and the wood matures. It's the neatest dam thing.

beginners be warned martin and taylor are good guitars but you need to spend a lot of money to get a good one... the lower end are overpriced and not worth the money... i'm not knocking anyone's martin or taylor... i'm just voicing a strong opinion... marketing can do amazing things for a company... anything with solid woods will age and improve their tone with time... it's their nature... ok... i'm done with my rant... sorry if i offended anyone... i do not mean to... i just want people to be well informed if they're buying a new guitar

Default I agree with Corey

I totally agree with Corey. I suppose I did, but did not mean to, infer that only Taylors and Martins improve with age. By including them, I guess I was (in a way) excluding others. My bad.

You are also correct about the low end Martins. They have this "wood-like" set of guitars out there running $500 - $700 that a friend of mine purchased and the sound board warped and raised the bridge about a quarter of an inch.

I like my Martin though. Sorry if I was sounding too much like a homie.

MMMMMM...... Yairi ...... i don't know if i'll ever purchase another guitar....... everything they stand for and everything Kazuo produces with his very own hands is simply top notch...... i wouldn't trade my guitar for a top of the line taylor...... although, get me a discounted McIlroy and i think i would consider throwing my "buying only Yairi" theory out the window

You are a very lucky person! i can only dream of such instruments. My woodwork teacher at school built his own guitar, and it is amazing i played it the other day, it's quite heavy but the sounds which comes out is lovely.
