This Home song is as bland as it gets. Someone mentioned Coldplay, and while I didn't instantly fall asleep, it failed to interest me. Also, the vocals in the beginning brought back bad memories from I'll Stand by You by The Pretenders. It also lacks any distinct "Lisa sound" whatsoever.

Still not as enthusiastic about the new album as I thought I'd be

I think I know what you mean. While I adore Knots, I have never really liked A Sail, and Home is, as you said and I mentioned before, rather bland. It may sound stupid, but it's just so mainstream, it lacks the idiosyncratic charm of the Sea Sew material.

But Drakster3000 is right - we should wait for the rest of the album...

^ hehe. on the opposite, i don´t like knots at all., but i do like a sail (very much) and home. i sort of agree on the "mainstream" comment, but it doesn´t bother me.

from Lisa's FB:

Lisa Hannigan
‎'Knots', the first single from 'Passenger' is having its Irish radio debut just after 3 o'clock on Tony Fenton today. www.todayfm.com

so looks like the 1st single is Knots and not A Sail...

The main problem I'm having is that I like the new songs we've heard, really do... but don't super love love love them. I mean, don't see any Lille or Sea Song in here... they're nice little songs but not wow wow wow songs, if you know what I mean... but that's based on 3/4 songs I know... really need to get the rest pronto, especially the duet with Ray

well, i wouldn´t expect for another "sew saw like" album. it would be a waste of talent, imho. and this time is different, since we have a really good songs (even though i love just four songs of sew saw to be honest) to compare the new songs to, even though we know it´s not a goog thing to do or we don´t want to. i think it´s something that we (i mean everybody and not only EF) usually tend to do, isn´t it?

anyway, yes. we wait and see (or listen ).

not sure if I understand what you mean...
Personally I love Sea Saw. Think it's a fantastic album that I nevr ever would have expected Lisa to make. I love all the songs, and I like the fact that the sound is 'happy' but the lyrics are kinda dark and sad...

I wouldn't want Sea Saw pt 2 either... the other way around, I'd want her to step up the game, improve and mature and make an even better record.

i guess i didn´t understood what you meant, hehe. but it doesn´t surprise me. i´m feeling way nervous these days and my brain and body are reacting in a way that i don´t know how to handle.

anyway... what did you mean with "I mean, don't see any Lille or Sea Song in here..."? i think i misunderstood this line and i got the wrong conclusion

I think Sea Sew was fine for a debut album, it had a nice atmosphere andpresented what Lisa stands for, as opposed to what she used to do with Damien, very well.

However, I too would hate to get another cosy album like that again. The debut went well, she's established herself as an artist - it's time to step it up and explore a little more. I really hope that's what they're doing with the new album. She has such great potential, her voice is amazing, she has great sensitivity and creativity - I really hope to see her develop over the years, and not settle for charming/cutesy cosiness. I do have a sense that's happening already, but we'll see

me too actually. i´m not sure what "step it up" would mean. i always believed that she shares the music she wants to create and sing, she did it with sea sew and i truly believe that this is what she is doing now too.

thanks a lot. seems that kcrw loves lisa

call me plain, but i prefer all the *slow* songs, but i so like the fact that passenger is quite different from sea sew. all in all, i like the new album

Home will no doubt end up in the soundtrack to some romantic comedy sooner than later. I like it though.

Yeah, I like it a lot. Knots, Safe Travels, Little Bird, and Nowhere To Go are stand-outs for me. I think it misses the presence of some sort of angry song where she just lets go (FlowersFlowersFlowers) but overall, I think it's really good.

There's clear growth from Sea Sew, but there's also a lot more room for her to explore. I would like to hear her step away from wistful/whimsy, but I'm not disappointed with Passenger at all.

Didn't expect to feel so much this album. Call me a fool, but some tears dropped on Little Bird (which is definitely my favourite) and some bursts of laughter started on Safe Travels (don't die). I think it's a very good album and I can't wait to hold it in my hands and listen to it from my stereo. And admire the artwork, of course. Thank you so much for finding and sharing this, ko210!
