4 hr and 23 songs

just went to see Ben Howard this week and he played like 1 hour and 13 songs... in other shows he does even less, like 11 songs... I want my money back

I always say it, with Damien it´s always better to go to the last show than the first during the 9 tour it was the same, the last show was Cardiff in which he played all the newies he had been playing + Stone...

now, compare, in San Francisco he did a greatest hits show with only 1 newie... cannot compare to that setlist in Montreal

Nice! I'm glad you got to meet him! Makes ups for the Apollo and the first Chicago show you were at. Everyone at the Montreal show should be thanking you. =)

without further ado, here's the full recording! i would be so grateful if someone could volunteer to split it into tracks, i have no idea how to do that! i'll also upload the video for it takes a lot shortly.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/k02diexox6...02014.m4a?dl=0

i don't know what to say that hasn't already been said! it was absolutely perfect, by far the best show i've ever been to. he was hilarious, the crowd loved it when he spoke in french. he seemed to briefly consider playing fool towards the end, until someone shouted for me, my yoke and i. he invited that angelique girl from cheers darlin' (who must've barely been 18!) backstage with her mother after the show, and they seem to have stayed there for about an hour - the show ended a little after midnight and he came out around 1:15.

there were 15-20 people waiting to meet him (more than i expected), and everyone was so lovely. met folks from moncton, vancouver, brazil, lebanon... no eskimo friends, as far as i know. he made sure to hug everyone and took a few minutes to chat with us even though he couldn't believe the cold. he said he's definitely coming back here in april, he didn't know why it hadn't been announced yet or when it would be. i told him i was at that show in dublin when he opened for leonard cohen, because he mentioned that gig before playing back to her man, and he said again how excited he'd been to play for one of his heroes.

Wow! so happy for you (and a also a bit jealous).

Sounds like a great finish to an amazing comeback, and it's so good to know that he'll be returning very soon with more gigs and new songs from the next album. I guess that with the food comes the appetite and looks like Damien's appetite is back! and so is mine

I'm starting to save money while I'm waiting for european tour dates (and in the mean time I'll also pray that one day he'll come to the middle east.. I know it's a long shot but one can always hope )

Melodie thanks a lot for the recording and to all other eskimos who shared videos, audios, photos and stories throughout all this amazing mini-tour, and made us all be a part of the experience

Oh my, to have been at this gig.

Thanks for the stories & recording. And that review was great, sounded like it was written by a fan rather than a journalist!

Wow. This version of it takes a lot to know a man. Damien doing what he does best. Making his pain palpable. His improvisation at the end too. Very funny.

Sounds like an incredible show. Happy for those that were able to make it. Thanks for the audio, video, and reviews.

Default Montreal metropolis gig

I was actually lucky enough to be on stage for "Trusty and True" (I was the guy who hopped over the barricade

Amazing show, and we actually waited out back behind the Metropolis for about an hour and got to meet Damien. He was incredibly nice and shook our hands and chatted for about 10-15 min. He refused to take photos and sign us autographs but the fact that we got to spend some time with him after was great.

Melodie, you are an angel!!! I listened to the whole recording today. I was able to run 10 miles and then clean my whole apartment before I finished listening to this show. Nuts!!!

Tomorrow I'm driving from Boston to New York with my sister for Live From the Artist's Den and I'm going to play this for her on the way. Thank you for recording and sharing!

I am also happy for all who were there, sounds like it was a really special and unique concert and night!

Thank you so much for sharing the videos, audio, stories and thoughts!

I cannot stop listening "It Takes a Lot to Know a Man", I had been longing and waiting to be able to hear the live version of this song since I first heard the cd version. I knew that he could sing this song just with his guitar!

Despite the many times that I had listened it, I have not been able to understand few words of the improvisation, but since this thread is about the Montreal's concert, I will ask for help in the thread that already exist of this song.
