I just want to say how amazing the Iran earthquake appeal gig was tonight in Dublin. I haven't seen Damien live for almost two years but this evening's performance was in a different class to those I saw then. And it wasn't just Damien. Lisa's jazz set was mesmerising, and Vivienne almost carried out what she warned in her infamous 'earth will move' interview with her set, complete with Tomo for 'Come Together' and the 'Red Hot Cello Peppers' for Bohemian Rhapsody. The Bell X1 lads almost stole the show too. I think they've earned a lot more fans, and it was a good gesture when Damien finished Cold Water with a bit of one of their songs. Credit is definitely due to Tomo and Tanya for organising it. It was worth twice what I paid for, and the fact that it was going to such a good cause made it even more enjoyable. Daniel |

And to think that people are paying almost twice what we paid to see Britney Spears. One Lisa is worth a thousand Britneys.

Yes, they did the usual, Delicate, Volcano, Cold Water (with the lights off) and The Blower's Daughter. I know Damien claims not to be into fame and all that, but he must get a kick about an entire concert hall knowing all the words to his songs. There was a great atmosphere. |

There were a few spare seats alright. But not many. The thing is that they didn't really advertise Damien's presence, which probably would have filled the place, but it had the advantage of not making it all about Damien. In fact, Lisa's set ended the show, and she got as big a cheer as Damien did. Dan |

Yeah, what a gig!
Running order... The Tycho Brahe The Walls Paul and Dave(Bellx1) Viv and Tomo Viv and three other celloists or a quartet i think Damien Rice Lisa Hannigan Then Lisa, Damien, Tomo, Steve Wall(or Joe?), Paul, Dave and Carol Keogh all sang that "Down to the River" song to finish. The Tycho Brahe were on too early to get much atmosphere but i enjoyed seeing them. The Walls played some new songs and "to the bright and shining sun" went down well anyway. Paul and Dave nearly stole the show, they were fantastic. Although i've never seen Bell x1 live before. They played... Snakes and Snakes, Offshore, Next to You, Eve, The Girl is Mine(very funny), West of Her Spine and See Your Heart to finish. Viv started playing some classical piece of music on her own which was great. Then Tomo came out to the drums. They played "Come Together". Then the quartet came out and played "Bohemian Rhapsody" which went down a treat. You really heard how great that piece of music is when four cellos can play it together. Damien played... 1 Blowers Daughter II (solo) 2 Nine Crimes (Viv on piano) 3 Delicate (Tomo, Shane and Lisa came out) 4 Volcano 5 Cold Water (lights off) which became Eve, the Apple of My Eye. 6 Blowers Daughter he then said his thanks. Lisa'a set was fantastic, really jazzy. i really enjoyed it. She looked shy, nervous, cute and adorable all at the same time. Norah Jones my ****! The crowd was mesmorised by her set, there wasn't a word spoken. Then Paul arrived on stage with guitar to sing Love Hurts. A passionate embrace ensued. Lisa's band was Tomo on drums, a jazz pianist called Phil, and a double bass player (double bassist?) called Dave. The little guitarist from The Walls, Karl, was at the side of the stage dancing the whole way through Lisa's set. The songs had plenty of swing in them, great stuff. The group song was incredible i have to say. Great gig! Edited by: The Weatherman

vyvienne was excellent and lisa's set was really enjoyable, and Bell x1 were the best act on the night. closest to a Juniper re-union was Bell X1 performing Eve Is The Apple Of My Eye during their set, and then Damien sang Never during his set. but everyone got up and sang with Lisa on the encore. the acoustic versions of Snakes & Snakes and Alphabet Soup were amazing, and the best version I think I've ever heard of Offshore.. I must say I was very impressed with Lisa's set. That sort of stuff, old-time jazz, is very difficult to find these days (at least in Dublin). Does anyone know of any good places in Dublin to hear jazz? How do you think we can convince Lisa to do regular tours of the Dublin lounge circuit? By the way, nice Bob Dylan song at the end of her solo set too. The girl's got taste! |

Sounds like an awesome night. I'm glad to hear it will be released and hopefully generate some additional funds that way.
Did any of you take pictures? |

Oh God it must have been amazingly brilliant! Not that anyone here doubted it, but... Why, God, why do I live in France? I went to a concert last night too (unsigned small French band from my town), maybe I could exchange all my memories against those you have all(very nicely) written here? And pretend I was there too... No hang on, that willnever work...

Thought Bell X1 were absolutely tremendous - definetly stole the show, and their rendition of The Girl Is Mine by McCartney & Jackson was superb. Good to hear Damien doing Nine Crimes which is a great song, would really like to see him do Sand or Insane in Ireland, maybe next Monday!! Not at all a fan of jazz and have been working very hard recently so almost fell asleep during Lisa's set!

I borrowed the camera. and dont have the software to put them onto my computer, so it'll take a little while for that. Absolutley amazing gig! It was my girlfriends first time to see what Damo looked like, and when he came out on stage she said "He's a little Ewawk!!". I thought that was hilarious!! BellX1 stole the show, but it was a very close second between Damo and Lisa. We were spoiled last night, and i wanna do it again!!</font>Edited by: daol20

im trying to think what one moment was the best for me, seeing pauls legs twitch during snakes and snakes when he really wanted to go mental! (if anyone has seen bell x1 live they will know what i mean!) nine crimes nearly brought a wee tear to my eye and damien singing eve during cold water, (was really hoping paul would come onstage and help him out with that one!) unbelievable!

I agree, great night.
The people I like I loved, I was blown away by Bell X1, Lisa was great as well. Today in work its been all Nina all day because of her. The bands I don't like I didn't like but I wasn't expecting to.
