I got two tickets to see her in Hollywood. Gavin's opening for her again too! It sounds like a repeat of when I saw her solo show last time in LA, so I am very happy. Although at the Largo it was seated, and this time at the Troubadour it will probably be standing. Emiliana Torrini's playing the same venue in March. This will be a good close to winter.

^ Totally off-topic, but I've never heard the name Emiliana before, but I absolutely love it! I'm adding it to my list of girl names in the event that I ever have one.

Never seen them live but i like them. I think its a good fit for opening for her, so hopefully they'll be good live.
Check them out.

Nice! Where do you see these specific appearances? I thought they hadn't released the venues for SX yet.

Great gig last night.

Gavin had a great opening set. Much more lively than his Largo set, but equally as talented. will post his set list soon.

Lisa and the boys all said that they were jet lagged, but did not show it at all.

Pictures and Set lists soon.

Tomo posted a blog on Lisa's myspace...

Quote:
First USA blog - from tomo

We're back in the states for 6 weeks.
Jet lag is rearing it's confused head, the portions are larger and
we've been reminded that over here an Americano is simply a black
coffee.
Still, we are delighted to be back on the road, playing tunes and
seeing the sites.
I vowed to upload a few photos every day (almost) to keep you all
tuned in to what we're getting up to. It may just happen.

Enjoy,
Tomo

San Diego, 6:15am.
Sleep is fleeting following an 8 hour time change.

Getting our sea legs (and looking for food).

You can't see it from this angle but Lisa is battling an unruly
harmonium.

Wheee! I just got tickets to Lisa's NYC show with The Low Anthem. Does anyone know the deal about who's opening for who or if it's a double headline kind of thing?

ETA: Also, who's accompanying Lisa?

Default san diego House of Blues Feb. 11th

I should probably put this on the what made you smile thread 2009....

got to see Lisa at House of Blues in San Diego on weds. feb.11th and it was an amazing show...only 250 people in a super cool room on the side, the voodoo lounge...the show ended at 10 and Lisa and the guys hung out til midnight so we stayed and chatted with Lisa, who gave us a list of some cool places to hang in Dublin and then chatted with Gavin, TomO and a couple of others...it felt like thats how a show should be...it was perfect...LOVED IT!!! took a pic. with Lisa and will post it later ...

Yes yes, the band. I just wasn't sure if Tomo, Vyv, or Shane would be playing too.

^Tomo and Shane are always with her since they are high-ranking members of the Lisa's crew and Vyv is just a special guest at very lucky gigs, so I don't think she'll be around especially now that her album is out in a jiffy. Maybe as a supporting act in the near future...

2 new blogs from Lisa's myspace by Tomo...

Quote:
Tomo's Photo Blog 2 - 12th Feb 09
12th February 2009

Today we drove the 45 minutes from San Diego to Carlsbad so we could
play a radio convention called the Sunset Sessions. Often the setting
for these kind of things is a rather sterile conference room at
midday where you perform in front of people who choose songs for
radio, film and television rather than a normal, ticket-buying crowd.
Refreshingly, this one was set outdoors at the La Costa Resort, under
clear skies and with golfers smacking balls all around us; I liked that.

I'm calling this one my Lisa paparazzi shot.

Today is also Lisa's birthday so we got her this bus.

Important soundcheck discussions; "Where's catering?"

Gav in slight distress.

Note the remote in my right hand and the funny DW kit. Click.

What's this?

Chris, our new tech, fixed my Ukulele with, among other things, some
pink thread. Really, he's good with thread.

A bit of pre-show preparations.

Tomo's Photo Blog 3 - 13th Feb 09

13 February 2009

Arrived in San Francisco this morning.
The bus parked up on Pier 30, next to the Bay Bridge.
It was impossible not to shoot said bridge.

Best,
Tomo

The Bay Bridge at 9:13am.

That same bridge at 17:29.

And finally at 18:24.

That bridge again.... and herself.

Got back from the SF show a couple hours ago and thought I'd post my quick review on here. As usual, I don't have a detailed setlist to share but there were two new songs played.

The first one I'm assuming is a cover and I have no idea what it was called. But it could be on original. I just remember her singing at one point "I'm on fire". Any ideas?

The second song was definitely a new song cuz she said "Okay so here's a new song for ya".

Gavin put on a great opening act however I missed the first couple minutes of it. Damn SF and it's crazy parking situation. I drove around for at least half an hour trying to find a good parking area. Good thing the parking garages were still open.

Anyway, Gavin's finale was amazing and Lisa did a double song encore. I didn't wait after the show to meet them cuz I've already met Lisa and I didn't want the parking garage to close before I was able to get my car out.

If anyone knows the name to that first song I would really appreciate it. One of the best performances of the night!

Now I need sleep. Take care.

Peace.

Parking was indeed a pain tonight!! And my SRO spot at the show was partially obstructed. Oh well... I was glad I made it and saw Lisa tonight! And Tomo, too.

Here's the set list for The Independent, San Francisco, 17 Feb 2009:

An Ocean and a Rock
Sea Song
Splishy Splashy
Pistachio
My Pirate Disco
Playground Love
Venn Diagram
"Droney Drummy" (new song; before Lisa sang this song, she asked the audience what the title should be, to which someone in the crowd responded "A Cup of Tea"! LOL!)
Courting Blues
Lady and The Tramp (a Rodgers and Hammerstein classic)
Teeth
Lille
I Don't Know
---
Keep it All
Free Until They Cut Me Down (Iron & Wine cover)
