Caroline, at the beginning of Face he said he was going to play a song he wasn't intending to play, inspired by Mariam the Believer playing new experimental stuff. He said it wasn't a new song but because he doesn't normally play it he'd probably **** it up

There was no album chat, but a friend who was at the Manchester gig said he mentioned it there

Uhm..if I remember well he thanked Miriam for opening the show and said how brave it was what she did, playing all new stuff solo in front of a big audience. So his new record was not the context.

Thanks Lys.
How was Mariam?

(I love that he still wants to hang around after a gig Didn't he invite everyone to crash a party in Germany as well?)

And lots of banter...he (and me both!!) was a bit annoyed by the audience walking in and out all the time, arriving late, going for the loo etc. At one point he asked a couple about their seats, because they were walking around near the front row while he was playing. He was like, so you are sitting here right? The guy or girl said yes but there is someone in my seat. So Damien said..aahh...come beat them up! Who stole their seats!! LOL Lots of boooo's - these seat thieves must have been quite emberrassed.
And then...intro to 9 Crimes...'this is a song about stealing stuff'..

See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5U4csoh7No
thanks for capturing this. Hilarious!!

Oi...I'm afraid Mariam was not my cup of tea...just didn't think her voice was good enough for these solo songs in this venue. Would have worked better with band I think.

I adore this review of the Chelsea show. Which one of you wrote this ?! The author is clearly a longtime fan.
