still angry about tuesday night. god damn i HATE people. anyway, damo played a great version of volcano (could've listened to that all night). After The Professor he sang the 2nd verse of La Fille Danse (which is a separate song). let's put our heads together and try to figure out the french, and then the english...

there's an mp3 of a radio interview where damo and lisa sing the 2nd verse of la fille danse after the professor so get that if you need to hear it...

anyway, here's the french that i think i hear.

La fille danse
Quand elle joue avec moi
et la pluie mes mots pourquoi
no no, c'est la chanson
la nuit le vents
la mur le sans
de la petite dodo

I'm sure lots of it is wrong, but for what it's worth that literally translates into:

The girl Dances
When she plays with me
and the rain my words why
no no, it's the song
the night the wind
the walls without
the little sleep/bed/dodo (don't think anyone's ever come to a conclusion on "la petite dodo").

French speakers, get to work!

The girl dances
When she plays (dances) with me
And I think that I like it times silence
Does not dare say-therefore
When one is put together the words
On the small dodo

eh, this is the second verse. that's the first verse (roughly!). the first two lines are the same - hence your confusion I'm guessing.

Isn't it:

Et la pluie me manque, pourquoi?

Non, non, c'est la chanson,

La nuit, le vent,

L'amour, le sens

de la petite dodo.

And I miss the rain, why?

No, no, it's the song, the night, the wind,

love, the meaning of the little nap.

Then I believe it's something like "La La La La Ra ta ta ta..."

Inspiring stuff, I'm sure you'll agree.

dankelleher says: "Et la pluie me manque, pourquoi?"
and
dankelleher says: "L'amour, le sens"

I don't think "la pluie me manque" is correct but "L'amour, le sens" sounds perfect.

ouvrir les seins

où un poème plein

que l'on a posé exprès pour le coeur

It's definitely 'sens', not 'son'. I listened carefully in Galway last night. And I never hear an 'elle' between 'pluie' and 'me manque' either to be honest. Maybe he sings different words in different versions.

It took him a few minutes to sing 'petite' last night! And he decided to use the distortion mike rather a lot. The sooner he gets over his obsession with that thing the better, in my opinion. I mean, it's good in 'I Remember' and 'Prague' but 'La Fille Danse'? Not so sure.

P.S. Prague was absolutely fantastic last night. Song of the night. Which is saying a lot.

Never, and I mean NEVER dis the distortion mic in my presence again. Its humanities greatest invention since the internal combustion engine.

If Bumpman is asking Lisa how long it took her to grow his hair I'm asking Damien how to build one, its definately not one of those tin can jobies you can buy off the shelf. At least I think its not.

I'm just talking crap here but I'm downloading a song and need to kill time.Edited by: #Ian#

the distortion mic ruined the dublin gig in tuesday... i heard him sing tongue the night before the whole song my mate rang me for and it was amazing... he sang it through the distortion mic on tuesday and i wasnt impressed... its only good for bits like in volcano when he does "i kissed your mouth" towards the end or i remember... down with distortion mics (carefull now)

I completely agree. Although distortion mic + mobile phone is probably a very bad combination.

sorry guys - can you sort something out for me?

la fille danse is a separate song from the professor??? i have the mp3 of the professor, and the french bittie comes at the end.

La fille danse
Quand elle joue avec moi
Et je pense que je l'aime des fois
Le silence, n'ose pas dis-donc
Quand on est ensemble
Mettre les mots
Sur la petite dodo

and i saw him in shepherd's bush in november, and he did that again.

where can i get the whole of la fille danse then? with the verses that you've been talking about above? it's sooo pretty.

thanks
