I don't, but I do know Yann Tiersen and love his work. Is he well known in France? (apart from his work on Ámelie).

I had never heard of him, but he has a nice voice! It's not typical French music. By the way do know you Benjamin Biolay?? Thanks for the tip!

JUDE IS NOT FRENCH!!!
he is american, from los angeles! but i'm glad you like him, although he has nothing to do with yann tiersen, who by the way is not known for much except for amelie poulain...although he did the soundtrack of goodbye lenin... i know benjamin biolay also but i don't really know what he does, if you're looking for some good french music, maybe you would like Raphaël or Eiffel |

Sorry Marie that Imisunderstood you. But still the music is nice. Can you give me some titles of albums of Raphaël and Eiffel. I never heard of them. A really nice album of Benjamin Biolay is "Négatif" released this year. It's a what you French call a "chansonnier".

OKAY i'll listen to it more carefully
the first album of eiffel i loved was "abricotine", and raphaël is an all new and young singer in France so i don't know if he'll have a great carrer, but his album is "La réalité" you also can listen to Carla Bruni, she is a former model, and she has made really good albums if you want to know more french singers just ask me! I'm not sure about the word "chansonnier", in fact...it doesn't mean anything, to me; I would rather say that he is a "chanteur à texte", meaning the words are very important in his music |

of course I know jacques brel, I wonder who doesn't know him at least in France and in other french-speaking countries!
There are many great singers in France and I'm glad you're interested in them, yes I love my country! There are singers we know for a long time like Alain Souchon or the band Telephone, but there are many new artist who play rock music like the singer "M" and his album "Je dis aime"; Benabar whose lyrics are quite funny if you speak french; ... I think you know Noir Desir (Bertrand Cantat was the singer, you must have heard of him in Latvia lately...) |

Hey everyone! If you like Damien Rice and Tom McRae, you should check Kaolin, they're French and they're great. Mmmm, -before you ask- I have the album, called "allez", and I don't know where you could download songs. I'll try to find it for you guys, or you'll miss something good! If you can try the song "pour le peu", it's excellent!
