Incredible incredible show!! played SAND!
Even though the PA shut off a few times I still really enjoyed tonight.
last year in Bord Gais theatre I left slightly underwhelmed, this made up for that and a whole lot more. Sorry I didn't write down the setlist but it was a really good mix of old/new material. Loved the harmonium in long long way

Cannonball
The box
Nine crimes
Woman like a man
Amie
Long long way
Professor
Sand
My favourite faded fantasy
I remember
Elephant
Colour me in
Volcano
It takes a lot to know a man
Encore then
Delicate
The blowers daughter and creep ( on a chair)

Oh and speaking of chairs I was seated ( gammy knee) and happened to be sitting beside his mammy!

What a truly amazing gig..hope I remembered all the songs.. He's just incredible live.. He was charming and funny when chatting and fired up when he was performing multiple roles ( drums, accordion, clarinet etc.. Wasn't it just an amazing gig??
And I have the pleasure of seeing him again Thursday in Galway :-D

linda... i was expecting a text from you... short after the gig started, my phone died, sorry. i managed to find a place to kill time (until 5.45 am!) and i'm reading your post now.

eva... thanks! I thought marti requested it but he didn't. all my gratitude to whoever it was .

as for the pic: you ca see marti holding a camera, to his right was estefania, irene, lys, stephan, me, a rabdom guy and caroline (they are behind tge baffles). i'm partially blocked by the mics, i ca
n see my arms

although there were some complications with
h the sound, damien managed it and carried on. it was an amazing gig, as intense as it can be.
lovely meeting you guys and apologies to who we missed!

How lucky am I, being one of the few people to remain invisible
The random guy was a chatty Irish fella who charmed his way in between Verenita and me.

The show was incredible.
So glad to hear the Professor making it's return.
Sand was lovely. When the sound disappeared, he actually turned his monitor towards the audience. (Hilarious )
It takes a lot was unbelievable, loved every second of it.

Couldn't believe it when he started creep. The perfect ending.

incredible show, Damien super good mood, first time seeing him in this festival/high energy vibe, really rocking all the songs. Thought his void sounded better than ever and some of the performances, i.e. The Box, were his best ever

Sand was amazing. Also, The Professor, Amie, Long Long Way was beyond beautiful, same for Colour me In, he messed up the lyrics for MFFF but was great too
and the ending with TBW unplugged with Creep amazing!

PICS!

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=4d4a70f77d

What a great show. Enjoyed it much, despite my sore feet :P Great to hear Sand again, still one of my favorites. And the BD/Creep was epic.
Very happy there was no rain too. And fun to meet more eskimo's )
Glen was there of course but the stage was for Damien only last night. And rightfully so! Still amazed about what this small man can produce. In a couple of the last shows I noticed the muscles in his neck, how they are strong and very visible. His vocal chords must be able to lift some serious weight!

edit - just spotted myself in the jt pic - note to self: make sure to not look bored during show. I REALLY WASN'T, honestly!! :P

Only video i took - unlike the usual gig of this sort, they were very strict with recording... But I'm sure further back people were more able to record without being told off :P

Thanks for sharing picture, videos, stories, etc.! I can feel your energy and I LOVE IT!! Looking forward to your thoughts about the other shows. Damien IN Ireland seems the ideal way to see him (other than in your house or backyard)!

That Hot Press article's take about how he builds intimacy with his songs rather than banter is so true!
