my two cents on a couple of things: 1) if you ever hear damo speak, he always pauses to ensure whatcomes out of his mouthis what he wants to say. i would assume the same is true with his music. so what if he does a song for a movie....i am sure that it will be appropriate and heartfelt. 2) as for him being mainstream....again, who cares...everyone says that DMB sold out but they are (in my opinion) one of the most talented bands out there....so why shouldn't they be heard all over and make albums that everyone can easily have access to. the downside of this is that they quit playing the little theaters to 200 BIG fans and go to stadiums that have 50,000 screaming teeny-boppers. 3) you all on this thread are f**kin' hysterical with your banter....i want to move to the UK so that i can talk sh*t about townies...which, by the way, where is Chavster?Edited by: jbelleit

People, Damo doing music for "Closer" would be phenomenal. Don't let the title fool you. Itis not going to be a lightheartedJulia Roberts "Mona Lisa Smile" type of comedy. She was inexplicably chosen to replace thebrilliantCate Blanchett. All I can do at this point is trust Mike Nicholsfor the undisputed"finestadapter of stage plays to film" genius he isand not second guess his decision to use Roberts. I have bothseen and read the amazing, gut wrenching play the film is being made fromand believe me it's one of the darkest, angriest, most cynical takes on relationships you're likely to haveseen in a movie theatre since the likes of LaBute and Solondz. Every character in it is aselfish, manipulative liarcapable of immense cruelty. In other words, unless they're planning on using Damo's music toironic effect I wouldn't expect a soundtrack full ofanything sweetlike "Amie" or GWDY. I'd expect morein the vein of"Rootless Tree", "Fool", "Didn't Take Long", "Insane"etc. Hardly selling out. |

^^^ Yeah. Like I said, Jude Law's going to be in it. Jude's always been freaky in his films. PS: Yes, DMB is Dave Matthews Band. |

yeah, jude law has done ok stuff - and i see he is playing seba-ba-ba-bastian flyte in a new version of brideshead revisted? hm, i love the tv version so much i have mixed emotions about a remake. from the recent bbc interview: "He told us the film company sent it back saying it was too depressing, so he wrote a happy one for them" hrrmmppf! doesn't sound like they wanted the angry damien stuff anyway. i must admit i'm still rather sceptic about this film - untill the opposite is proven. i'm off my head with joy with mike nichol's work so far, although the graduate of course, which wasground breaking stuff, so... let's see... at least the music will be good, i suppose

everybody sells out at some stage in there career if its going anywhere,
damien has a good 10million in royaltys at this stage, i heard that he has sold 1million copies of O, dont know if this is true or not but his "i dont care about fame and fortune, i want to be a poor little hippy from ireland" was all just a show, he loves what he does but i gaurentee he wouldnt be doing it for minimum wage... 7eurs per hour .. in the next 5-6 years your going to see his mansion and his cars, and his wife in diamond necklaces and if you dont think that your stupid, every1 enjoys spending there wealth if they have it and earned it..

Damo doesn't seem the type of person to wrapped up in materialistic things (I mean have you seen his wardrobe?) but even if he was, who cares? He's working hard enough for it!

diamonds and damien? i don't think he'd like to support the diamond industry. do you realise how many lives are wasted, how much blood is spilled to give us those feckin diamonds? it's disgusting to think of, really. and i might be stupid, cartman(brilliant piece of argumentation btw), but i think you're wrong on the selling out. damien seems to value his self respect and integrety much more than anything else. but only time will tell, i guess...
