Yeah recordings arent great but its only off a phone. I love the song which i didnt video, a lovely tune. I think it's "and we've never been in this place before". |

Certainly the first one could well be a new song - I couldn't place it.
The 2nd song is a traditional Irish song, which has been recorded by Nina Simone, The Corrs, Luka Bloom, Paul Weller amongst others. "Black Is The Colour" Black is the colour of my true love's hair Her lips are like some rose so fair She has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands I love the ground whereon she stands I love my love, and well she knows I love the ground whereon she goes I wish the day it soon might come When she and I might be as one Black is the colour of my true love's hair Her lips are like some rose so fair She has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands I love the ground whereon she stands I'll go to the Clyde and I mourn and weep Where satisfied I never shall be I write her a letter, just a few short lines And suffer death ten thousand times Black is the colour of my true love's hair Her lips are like some rose so fair She has the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands I love the ground whereon she stands |

the first one sounds really promising!
from the videos it seems the stage is ridiculously high up, was this the case or did you hold your phone more subtlely next to your chest, rather than holding it up in the air in typical fashion?

Yup Wheels that sounds right to me.
My brother actually took the video. It was from his phone. He was on the front row, and knowing Damien's distain for people holding cameras in his face he sat it on his lap instead |

Adelaide is a place in Australia, not the name of the song

oh my goodness, thanks so much Tom - that new one is absolutely wonderful. I hope to God he plays it at some of the gigs this year.
I wonder what it's called |

Yes, I was soooo hoping the longer file was going to be the new song!
Yet another classic and quite lovely lyrics from what I can hear (which is actually almost all of it-just give me a few days to make sure on the rest). Oh and we've never been in this place before No, not as it is right now, right now. And we may never know what this night is for So for now we'll just sit around. Believe it or not, my mucho plugged amazingly talented singer/songwriter pal Summer has her own song called "What The Night Was For". She's a masive DR fan so I can't wait to tell her this...

Can anyone tell from this if it's new or if it's juniper stuff? I can't really hear what he's saying.

Pretty sure it's not a Juniper song, at least not one I've heard.

Clearly you have yet to look into AAG which is the Association of American Geographers, I mean if you want to get technical about it, then you shouldn't forget Neil Smith who happened to be one of the most accomplished American Geographers of the 20th century, whom which he dedicated his entire being and moment of existence on earth to learn every bump, decline and rock and wave of water on this planet. Also being well recognized for writing the most brilliant, vivid and illuminating book called American Empire. I guess you can google it if you feel so compelled to do so. But hey It's all opinion right? I guess yours just isnt based off anything but intuition, which is fine too. |

But wait, these two new songs are from the 2nd Australian show... but on the 1st night he did another new one, didn't he? The one about a girl with black hair that someone mentioned... looks like it's not any of these two...

thank you tom! Thank you for especially going through all the trouble and what not... and your brother, and being discreet about recording it. smart move if you are going to do it. in Toronto it was quite a weird feeling for some audience members to be scolded by damien.
but anyways... THANK YOU!!! |

Well here's the same new song from Melbourne N1:
http://download.yousendit.com/4FBE527C6E588F56 tis only slightly better quality...unfortunately i managed to tear the soldering on one of my mic jacks just prior to the gig, so the right channel has sporadic static throughout. *shrug* |

It would appear they've mastered the art of using google/looking things up on wikipedia and successfully passing it off as their own knowledge though. Oh wait... And anyways, myself and Neil Smith go way way back. I really enjoyed his recent paper on the politics of public space. Nice bedtime reading for anyone who's interested! Its hard to really get the feel of either song without a decent recording.
