oops, my bad. I was sitting to the left of stage center so Tom's drums were obstructing my view of it. I just assumed it was a cello.

P.S.- I think the most terrible thing about watching this cover is that you'll never be able to retrieve the 2 minutes and 49 seconds of your life that it took to get through it. wannabe.
I think just the quality of that video is bad... Im sure it doesnt really sound THAT bad.

This is not true. That is an upright bass and Shane plays it during the unplugged Cannonball. There was no cello on the stage after the Boston show.

Vyv was in Boston, she did not make the trip to Philly.

She was also not in DC or Louisville. The people I spoke to plead ignorance. I asked if it was a professional issue, or personal (like her father is sick and she flew back home) and they said "I don't know." I couldn't get any more info about it, but after a lot of conversation, and watching the shows, I get the impression no one expects her back soon.

The band starts feeling like the Light Cavalry Regiment at the Crimea... I started listening to Daminen's music because of three people. If two of them will be gone, I seriously doubt that I'll be able to keep up my interest.

I saw them in Philly... Let me tell you it was lacking a lot IMO. I never would have thought that Vyv would have made that huge of a difference in her absence but i was wrong.

The guitar player, while a good player, really just did not have the dynamics of Vyv's playing and infact just made Damien's songs seem.... normal and plain.

Mercury and Shortlist are two separate awards. That was a pic from when he won the shortlist music prize in 2003. www.shortlistofmusic.com

I don't think anyone can say based on this impression that Vyv is gone for good. Vyv's absence came up in passing in a different conversation I had after the DC show (not with Damien), but I was told specifically that there was no drama and that she just went home to take care of some stuff...that's all. Since it appears that no one here knows for sure, everything is just speculation and rumor...
