Lisa Videos on You Tube... anyone know what these are?
There are a few videos on You Tube that say they were added 2 days ago... it seems like Lisa is the main performer. And i believe it's vyv and tomo playing with her. On one she plays guitar, and on another, it seems like the drummer (tomo, i think?) is playing guitar. Can someone confirm this?
Lisa Hannigan plays in Sligo Donal Dineen's 'Month of Sundays' I searched and couldn't find what this show was and when it was. Does someone know? Are these Lisa's songs? well, here's the links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG7bCfTJw5M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEPUwYFHfe0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUbtr...elated&search= if those don't work, you can search Lisa Hannigan and select the videos titled "Lisa Hannigan 1, 2, or 3" thanks for any help : ) bryce |

Mother Hannigan..if you are out there...could you tell us if your daughter is going to ever do her own project. I know that it will come eventually...but when? Us eskimos are patient...but please tell us we won't have to wait that long.

Those rule the known universe.
As for whether they're originals. I believe they are. I tried googling lyrics and got no matches.

At the start of the second one I think Lisa says the song is just a few days old... then jokes 'so it's s**te'

In the third song, does Lisa sing "As an old balloon, I hold my breath'?

Here's where it's from. Seems they're fresh as the morning dew...
Sun 26 Nov I 7.30pm I €18/15 Donal Dineen / Chequerboard / Cane 141 / Lisa Hannigan http://www.getagig.ie/modules/AMS/ar...hp?storyid=156 And here's the (official?) myspace http://www.myspace.com/onemonthofsundays Thanks Bryce, those were great! Anyone who's going to the Dingle recording should here these and more... And might even get to ask 'The Lovely Lisa' herself when they might be available.

That new one ("I'd like to meet you") which she says in 'sh*te' is actually my favourite!

A couple of words for Spamlet to check!
I'd Like to Meet You (Lisa Hannigan) I don't know what you smoke Or what countries you've been to If you speak any other languages Other than your own I'd like to meet you. I don't know if you can drive If you hate the ground beneath you I don't know if you write letters Or you panic on the phone I'd like to call you all the same If you want to I am game I don't know if you can swim Or if the sea has any draw for you If your better in the morning Or when the sun goes down I'd like to meet you I don't know if you can dance If the thought ever occured to you If you eat what you've been given Or you push it round your plate I'd like to cook for you, if you want I would want to It'd be fine(?) If you walk this way And I keep my head We could creep away In the ??? Or maybe not We could shoot it down anyway I don't know if you read novels Or just the magazines If you love(?) the hand that feeds you I don't know if your hearts been broke I'd like to know you You don't know if I can draw at all What records I am into If I sleep like a stone Or rarely at all Or maybe you would do Or maybe you would do If you walk my way And I keep my head We could creep away Through the door Though I don't know you You make some mark on me I don't fall easy at all

i'm really excited. I really hope we see Lisa do an album of original stuff. she melts my soul.
I got vyv's birdtalk EP a couple days ago, and it's been a delight to listen to. damien is lucky to have both of these ladies in his band. |

Here's the Song 3 lyrics you asked about Waking up today It was cold out There's something I should say But I can't get my head around The bends in your brain And your elaborate pain Makes me tired. As an old balloon I hold my breath. Like a penance paid too soon And with too much eagerness To know what is true When air is changed by you It makes it hollow. I don't know Where it comes from Where to go When the rain comes When the rain... Put me back in the bottle Where the sea meets the sun Where the bones and their rattle It don't mean anything to no one And I, I had a swing When my soul was my own I had my teeth bared for battle Til love lost made me dull It made me dull It made me dull Put me back in the bottle Where the sea meets the sun Where the bones and their rattle It don't mean anything to no one And I, I had a swing When my soul was my own I had my teeth bared for battle Til love lost made me dull It made me dull It made me dull Note-updated after finally hearing a clear recording of the song (Lisa on 'Other Voices' and it's actually titled "Teeth")

Thanks Spamlet - though I am hearing a couple of things differently:
Waking up today It was cold out There's something I should say But I can't get my head around The bends in your brain And your elaborate pain Makes me tired. As an old balloon I hold my breath. Like I been in stage o soon (?) With too much eagerness To know what is true When air is changed by you It makes it hollow. I don't know Where it comes from Where the two go (?) When the rain comes When the rain... Put me back in the bottle Where the sea meets the sun Where the bones and their rattle It don't mean anything to no one I, I had a swim Where my soul was my own I had my teeth bare bravado Til love lost made me dull It made me dull It made me dull Put me back in the bottle Where the sea meets the sun Where the bones and their rattle It don't mean anything to no one I, I had a swim Where my soul was my own I had my teeth bare bravado Til love lost made me dull It made me dull It made me dull Any ideas for a name? I'm tempted to say "Dull" but it feels wrong given the song. How about "The Bottle"? |

Sim,
That's the last time I transcribe half asleep. Plus, I admit the only other time I really couldn't be certain of everything was also a Lisa sung one too ("Needles"). It's either a combination of her accent, her deliberate mumbling or the microphone level making her consonants fuzzier. Whatever the case, having an mp3 is the only way for me to employ all of my usual weapons. Now that I've done so I concur with the first line, no one and eagerness. I initially thought that but changed it when I became convinced that whole second verse was continuing the balloon similie. Probably due to the whole "stage o" thing which is an abbreviation for ozone layer but now I'm going back to the belief that she's talking about being onstage. Still can't hear anything but 'o' after stage yet but I know that's not right so I'll revisit it soon. I can also get behind "where the tube goes" because it relates strongly to the suffocation theme beautifully woven throughout the entire song.

Mmmm - still not sure.
Perhaps we are within our rights as Eskimos to demand a repeat performance from the wonderful Ms Hannigan. Or is it a mother's perogative? Mrs H.... Whatever - they are really great songs and I can't wait to hear them again. |
