Buying a violin..

Does anyone have any tips/ recommendations / advice for buying a violin? This is prob a shot in the dark, but am heading off to Uni in a few weeks and, after having the loan of a violin for 11 years+ from the Library Board, I am now violin-less. I dont want an electric one or a multi-coloured one-- just a boring brown one (i'm not v exciting , am I?!) and dont want to go down the Ebay road as I'd like to test it before buying. if its just an inbetween violin your looking for just pay about €150 for it, or better still and 2nd hand 1. u need a trad person with u when u but or a shop that knows what they're on about.

im sure there's plenty of good shops around the place, but there's this one place in Dublin which is truly amazing, its not some big, mulit-instrument store, just violins and violas and the guy selling them is an eccentric genius!! if ya want the name, pm me...ms pink is right, you're looking at about €150 for an okayish one...you can always trade in too...?
