Lisa was interviewed on The Last Word last night as part of their EP preview. Honestly one of the most fawning interviews ever* but Lisa did say that she'd "kneecap that bitch Florence" this weekend to damage her Mercury prize chances but I may be paraphrasing her slightly in this case.** She also said she'd be preparing for the gig by running up and down some steps beforehand, I hope she meant Rocky style.

She does seem to really love Bat For Lashes, last night was about the 10th time I've heard her namecheck Ms. Khan.

* Seriously, it was like someone here conducted the interview.
** I say paraphrase, what I mean is misquote entirely and take completely out of context. She said trip, probably meant it as a joke and didn't call whatshermachine a bitch.

Dawn of fame for down to earth diva
From idyllic rural upbringing, all nature and play, to a Mercury prize nomination, Ben Walsh charts the enigmatically sweet Lisa Hannigan's trajectory
By Ben Walsh
Friday September 04 2009

"I've seen Back to the Future and if you change one thing then everything else changes," explains Lisa Hannigan.
The 28-year-old betrays no bitterness whatsoever about one of the most defining moments of her career. The singer bagged her big break when she bumped into Damien Rice in the student bar at Trinity College, Dublin, and timidly told him she could sing.

Besides, the Mercury Prize will be announced soon, right? Next Monday maybe?

During the second Galway gig, basically this is what happened, the dress unbuttoned itself during a song and stayed that way for a few minutes until Tomo notified Lisa. There was blushing.

wears the trousers magazine interview
Quote:
lisa hannigan: what’s simple is true
September 8, 2009, 9:20 am

words in edgeways with lisa hannigan

It’s early on a Tuesday morning and from London to Dublin bellies are a-rumbling with prandial urges. “I’ll just go with the ol’ milk,” a sleepy Lisa Hannigan tells Wears The Trousers over the phone from her home as conversation lingers on the pertinent topic of breakfast. Lisa, you see, likes to keep things pure and simple. Bran flakes, no trimmings. “I’ll have the raspberries separate,” she laughs, her sole concession to extravagance throughout our chat.

The Irish gay marriage ad was just picked up by the second greatest blog on the interwebs, Pharyngula, and there is some good Lisa-promotion going on in the comments. I love it when my favourites collide
