I just think the chernobyl childrens project is not the best chernobyl charity...a relative used to drive aid trucks out for it and when I told em bout the award that was their reaction too, in fact they stopped driving for them because of the way the charity was being run.. Personnally I'd be suspicious of Adi cos 1) any aid worker who makes such a big deal out of the sacrifices they've made for what they are working for...i.e she can't have kids cos she actually went to chernobyl (aid trucks stop nearby but not in danger zone)..Its like she is doing charity for the fame it can bring her and not the benefits it brings to the people shes helping..Its supposed to be an unselfish(ish) act...Its like people complaing cos celebs aren't giving enough to the tsumani..but who knows what anonymous donations have been made and when you hear celebs advertising how much they gave it kind of gives them brownie points in the eyes of the public etc...fair play to them for giving money but I guess they are damned if they don't advertise giving money (people assume they have given nowt) and they are damned if they do.. 2) she ran for president...commitment to her cause or what!! how much help to the charity would she have been from phoneix park I dunno I just think when the head of a charity seeks out fame it kind of takes away from the cause. Chernobyl childrens project is great and giving to them is better than not giving at all but meteor possibly should have done more research into what the charity achieves instead of just picking the obvious choice.. rant over alsoI've had some personal experience with her and she acted like she was the queen or something..

I'm not totally dismissing your point, but I'd imagine from the position of President of Ireland she could do a hell of a lot for her cause.

probably but she wouldn't have been able to spend as much time working for it and besides money time is what alot of charities need (theres always time on my mind....) dunno how the country would have felt by the president being primarily a supporter of a single charity as supposed to spreading between a few diff ones but she didn't win so its a moot point (or as joey from friends would say a moo point Joey: It's a Moo point. Rachel: A...Moo point? Joey: Yeah, you know...it's like a cows opinion...just doesn't matter. It's...Moo. ) o and I put dec o rourke down as best maleEdited by: spudy

i've never really considered her as someone who's a fame-seeker. i think it's pretty great how strong her organisation has been. it can't be easy trying to keep it going so long after the disaster, especially with so many other charities and NGOs vying for attention. i don't know much about their administrative ability, although i have been volunteering to work for them for free for awhile and still haven't been asked to do anything, but i think it's pretty inspirational what she and ali hewson and others in her organisation has achieved. and i'm sure she must have been in the danger zone. i know ali has. so i do have a lot of respect for her and i'm glad her organisation is the getting the award. and hey, it's based in cork! woo! it's about the only way anyone from cork is gonna get an award at the meteor awards! heh... sigh... i think the shades should be nominated for best album... but now i'm digressing...
