I have heard of him. His music was featured on "Scrubs" a few weeks ago.

Sigh. I know - he's got no Canadian dates though.
Although, he is free on the 18th... Toronto's just a two hour flight from Kentucky... he could so make it for Damien's show |

I personally don't mind the no-support idea for Toronto...... I like getting straight to the point

i think Rachael Yamagata would be a great support act; just went on ebay and searched for damien rice stuff and a related search was "rachael yamagata," thought it was interesting, she's great

Oh there are a whole bunch of people that would fit with him... if she wasn't already touring the States I'd also vote for Vienna Tang. She's already done a great version of Cannonball...
Or, yes. Rachel - Happenstance was a delightful album Like Adelaide said though, I really don't mind him coming alone (especially if it means a longer set by him!) |

Well there's a bar in the venue itself (but I seem to remember it being overpriced).
Directly opposite the venue is Fran's, which is pretty cool for a pre/post gig meal/drink - it's open 24 hours and they have an all-day breakfast menu. And really, food wise, your best bets are in the all-day breakfast menu... (although I think they have good desserts too). You can get a meal and drink for $15-20 (or even less depending on what your order). Also, right above Fran's is the Pantages martini bar and I think drinks are half price from 4-7pm... they used to be at least. The crowd will probably be a little dressier (i.e. business casual?) or people going for a drink before heading to the theatre, but it's pretty nice. It's one of our celebrity hotspots during the toronto international film festival... Oh and just a bit of a walk away is the Imperial Public Library - I've never been there, but friends tell me the drinks are cheap and the crowd is mainly university students/locals so it's pretty laid back. And there's a Hard Rock cafe nearby too. Last edited by srahman24; 04-25-2007 at 05:00 AM. |

Love him, not that well known over here in the UK but have heard quite a bit of his stuff. He is doing a few shows over here to but sadly only in the north from what I can tell.
