I met Damien yesterday on my way home from work. He was walking through Temple Bar with some luggage. Said he was on his way back from Sri Lanka doing some charity work in refugee camps. I was a bit tounge tied but i got him to sign an autograph and i was ringin my mates so he drew a little sketch of me on the phone. Quite a good one too. He was bang on and actually seemed as nervous as i was which is nice. Anyone else ever meet him. |

imagined? Everyone always says that about famous people when they meet them. I'd love to meet him. Maybe when I'm in Oz....

just met him once, got him to autograph my O and got a short chat with him very down to earth fella...sound man...he did seem kinda short though [img]smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

Every time I have had the chance to meet him I have chickened out.. I am a little afraid of him for some reason,I tend to keep the people I really admire at arms length [img]smileys/smiley5.gif[/img]

Hmm, interesting Julia- I've had that phrase "at arms length" going around in my head all day. My son and I saw him outside the venue before the show in Madison when we were looking for a place to park. He was only maybe 15-20 feet away from us and Tyler said "Isn't that....?" and I suppose I could have jumped out of the car like a madwoman and run over to him, but it didn't seem appropriate at the time. And we probably could have met him easily after the show but he seemed really moody that night and I honestly didn't want to bother him.But maybe I could have gotten a hug! [img]smileys/smiley5.gif[/img] Ah well, there's always next time I guess. [img]smileys/smiley2.gif[/img]

it's insane...everyone here talks as though it's an ordinary day when meeting someone like damien rice...i am absolutely baffled by this...i have never heard of anyone meeting a star just by walking down the street...i guess those kinds of things just don't happen to people in INDIANA...(i hate this place) [img]smileys/smiley19.gif[/img], jess

you generally meet famous people all th etime in temple bar, but damo was by far the coolest. yeah i forgot to mention the height thing. im 5'9 and iwas a good 3 inches over him |

i dont feel the need to really approach damien... ive chatted to him enough times to be satisfied. But sometimes i get the feeling he doesnt want to be annoyed....i dont want to annoy him and yes he is quite small... first time meeting him i was like "woah, im actually bigger than him"[img]smileys/smiley4.gif[/img] |
