Default Project Damien Rice

I have to do a project on my favourite artist/musician and so i picked Damien.

I think I can make a background/bio by myself and from picking up on
different stuff posted on this site.
But i'm stuck for songs.

I can choose about 3 songs (not too long) on which to show what he's like.
I was thinking of

1. a short one to show Vivienne Long off.. i.e. maybe Purple Haze
2. maybe Eskimo a live radio edition (possibly KCRW i dont know)

and a third one? something that shows off his (rockier/other stuff) side
I cant have any swears in any of the songs because its a secondary
school audience i hav ta present it to soo

that rules out rootless tree,Blowers daughtie Part 2, Professor Normal Version

ANY IDEAS?
thanks...

As far as "rockier" goes.....

'Woman Like A Man" would not be appropriate for school.

I would personally choose El Damien's half of "I Remember"

Problem, if you tell your teacher your references are from people discussing on messege boards, you might be in trouble. No matter what we think, it's still hear say in their eyes. You would need to do it through articles, not boards.

The other problem is that Damien is still a new artist somewhat. There isn't a ton of info about him that would be considered acceptable. The stuff on this website is a fan website, not an offical website. If you took stuff from here, they would need to be articles from magazines and such.

You might do better if you picked an older artist, one with a lot of info easily to get that is offical. Also, you might find actual books about them at the library.

So, as much as you like damien, you might be better off getting someone with more "official" released material if you want a good grade.

Jesus, it's a secondary school project not a newspaper exposé!

Exxacctly.

Just to clarify a few things

1. It is NOT graded because its just for Transition Year (a sort of Gap Year)

2. The teacher actually told me (..dont know if I believe him) that he's
(Warmed-up) Juniper when he was in college. Anyone to clarify that if i gave
them his name?

3. If I told the teacher that Damien once pissed on his girlfriend (quite possible) then he'd probably believe me because he's not going to look up
anything to see if it's true .. or the likes.

4. I can figure out if anyone lies about 'wee information' on this site with
my sarcasm detector.

any other ideas?

In my highschool, I took modern music classes, and the teachers checked up our info, and had us write bibliographies.

I was just trying to help. Should I just not post here to help people anymore or something?

Ah relax, there was no ill-feeling in my comment. You were treating it very seriously and it just made me laugh. I understand that things are probably done differently in your school... it's still funny tho :-)

anyway, just laugh it off, this isn't something to get pissed off about.

By "Beat My Drum" do you mean "Me, My Yoke and I"? The song about masturbation? Should be okay so long as no-one realises what it's about :P
