do you understand all of the lyrics? there's a word I don't catch!

Quote:
You could be my favourite taste to touch my tongue
I know someone who could serve me, love, but it wouldn’t fill me up

You could have my favourite (place?), my favourite name,
I know someone who could play the part but it wouldn’t be the same

I don't hear face... to me it sounds more like haze, but face makes more sense.

I tried to transcribe the lyrics. I know, like many of you I am sure, the lyrics are so incredibly important to the experience. Please help correct this if you are hearing something different (especially after the 5:00 mark lol)

Quote:
you could be my favourite taste
to touch my tongue
i know someone who could serve me love
but it wouldn’t fill me up

you could have my favourite face
and favourite name
i know someone who could play the part
but it wouldn’t be the same

no it wouldn’t be the same
no it wouldn’t be the same
no it wouldn’t be the same
’s with you

you could be my favourite place
i’ve ever been
i got lost in your willingness
to dream within the dream

you could be my favourite faded fantasy
i’ve hung my happiness upon what it all could be

and what it all could be
what it all what it all could be
what it all what it all could be
with you
what it all what it all could be
what it all what it all could be
what it all what it all could be
with you

you could hold the secrets that save
me from myself
i could love you more than love could
all the way from hell

you could be my poison my cross
my razor blade
i could love you more than life
if i wasn’t so afraid

of what it all could be
what it all what it all could be
of what it all what it all could be
with you
what it all what it all could be
of what it all what it all could be
what it all what it all could be
with you

loved is all that bloomed
always what you did
never let someone go or they...
i aint never loved like you

’ve never loved ive never loved
i’ve never loved loved loved like you
i’ve never loved
i’ve never loved
i’ve never loved

It's absolutely gorgeous. I was thrown off by the falsetto at first, but I got sucked into it so quickly. I love this as the first album. The instrumentation is so incredibly awesome. Is that wurlitzer? I may explode with excitement. Also, I'm new here.

Feels like the track would fit into the movie her perfectly. Side note after looking at the trailer when the computer finishes loading it says O on the screen.

Thank you for transcribing the lyrics, Cremallero. It does get harder to understand at the end there.. I love the whole dreamy ambience of the song, and I agree, the lyrics are always so important.

Welcome, Josh! The clip that Dawno posted above isn't sung in falsetto, and I have to admit, I like that version better. Would be cool if it is a Wurlitzer.. In any case, it's a gorgeous song, can't wait to hear the album in it's entirety!

Listening for the first time now. I love his voice singing that high, so flawed and emotional and beautiful. I kind of wish he'd leave the strings behind. Great dry drum sound. Looking forward to hearing it for real, not in a low-quality stream, when the band kicks in at the end it all sounds too compressed. I have not been overly excited about this release news, I guess it's been too long or something, but I am definitely hopeful and looking forward to hear the whole thing now.

Also available on Amazon. Man, I'm lost for words. It's a little different to what i was expecting - he's quite chirpy!! Its been so long. Am I ready to have my heart abused musically?! Hell yes! Also the words are incredibly relevant to me atm. Hurry up November...

OK, I'm declaring today a full on DOD - Damo obsessed day! You know how you attach memories and people to songs...well Damien's music is very much entwined with my hubby and I stopped listening to him (and hubby!) when we separated about 3 years ago. Hearing 'my favourite faded fantasy' has promoted me to dig out all the old favourites for the first time. Its emotional to say the least, but I've missed that rawness that gets me every single time. I'm currently working my way through the St Luke's videos...'woman like a man'...I'd forgotten how that song does things to me!!

It doesn't sound mixed or mastered correctly...anyone else feel the same ?

The vocals in the first two voices are so much louder than it is when the drums come in. The vocals then take a back seat and get drowned out by everything else as it goes on.

5:29 seems to be squashed and nothing really stands out, sounds like it's working the compressor lots and the track becomes flat.

Love the song, but something isn't right to me

I think for the most part they are right up until that last bridge. The first two lines I hear are:

Love dissolve the bloom
Always watch it dim

But for the third line, thus far I can only make out part of it:

Never lets a (or some) heart (or art) ___ ____

The closest words I could come up with based on the sounds I hear is "core" and "obey" (or maybe "beg") which is nearly poetic enough to work.

Of course it could always be "Never laid some hardcore babe" too (although I doubt it since we know Damo's certainly had quite a few of those.)

I never loved another like you etc. etc.

I haven't listened carefully enough to the whole thing but I also believe I heard a "what it all could mean" interspersed in with the "what it all could be" parts. So they may alternate throughout.

I'm not too keen on the new song, mostly because of the falsetto, I guess. (But then again, the 2006 record "9" never quite clicked with me as "O" did, either)

Maybe it's got something to do with Rubin's influence (but I'm not sure)? See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Ru...oudness_war.22

So I spent all day being bothered by this and not being able to figure out and FINALLY remembered what song it is that the end of this one reminds me of: "Uncomfortable," the duet with Melanie Laureant.

I might also be completely insane, but the two compliment each other (to me) and I could see the ending of MFFF playing out a little like the end of Uncomfortable when played live.

^that´s what I´ve been telling everybody, that it reminded me of the songs with Melanie... I particularly thought it reminded me of the other one, Everything You´re Not Supposed to Be

chartwatch: the single is #58 in the UK itunes, the album pre-order at #27 the thing is Damo´s profile is better than ever in the UK mostly cos of X Factor constantly playing his songs in the last 3 years, he´s probably more famous in the UK now than in 2004 in the US itunes the single is #231 and the album, pre-order at #40

PS now streams do count towards the charts, so if you listen to the single on Spotify, you contribute to the charts! in a way, it´s like buying the mp3 on itunes new times...
