I had a friend who was a RABID Evan Dando fan, and he very highly recommended his latest, Baby I'm Bored. (But I never checked it out, and I'm pretty sure he would have loved it if it had just been Evan beating on a garbage can with a spoon!) Have fun though--poor Mr. Dando's been through a lotof ups and downs as I understand it, so I hope he's in proper form for your show!!

Hehe ...hhmmm...Seaguls are Free, that song cracks me up so much Bit Part, Frank Mills and Drug Buddy are great songs from the It's a Shame about Ray album too

Evan Dando played his only UK gig last year in my home town (Newcastle)back in December but I was traveling from Uni BACK home that day and just missed out...I was so sad

I hope you enjoy/enjoyed the show Cille ..I hear he's sober now lol!

You will have a great time Cille

I saw him Lemonheads play at a festival in New Zealand many years ago (they were excellent) and we metEvan briefly after they played- he is very tall and seemed rather moody. He wouldn't do autographs as another band was playing and he said it was 'disrespectful to them' (fair enough)Myfriends took photos of themselves standing next to him Poor guy.

You can listen to a fair few songs here...

http://www.robertcrosbie.com/evandando/mp3.html

and as Fitzcarraldo said, if you pick up the best of album that should give you an idea of what to expect.

Enjoy yourself at the gig

Oh, have fun! I hope it's good. Can't wait to hear back from you. I never went to see him, but I thought maybe I should.

FWIW, Evan was one of Jeff Buckley's favorite songwriters.

'Confetti' by the Lemonheads is one of the best pop songs ever written. Get the 'Its A Shame About Ray' CD.

I wouldn't be as big of a fan of his solo stuff though. I saw him live once and he wasn't in the best of form, stormed off stage at the end.

Oh, I have that! I bought a cheap copy on amazon. I don't think I ever listened to it all the way through. I wasn't in power pop mood the day it arrived. I'll dig it out again!

JB also pegged him as the best ever pop writer (in a French interview).Edited by: Angela
