Hey, just wondering if anyone could tell me more about this band. They've been recommended to me a couple of times. Is anyone here a fan? What album should I start on?
Help appreciated! Thanks

I can't really help in the which album department, but I can offer another opinion that you should check them out! I saw them last month when they openedfor Pearl Jam and was impressed!

ive seen them twice live....incredible...ben gibbard is one of the best lyricists ever...just simply beautiful intelligent lyrics. him and walla form an extremely intelligent song writing team. i would probably start with their most recent...transatlanticism. after that the photo album, but check all the albums out.

True, that did remind me. But a friend suggested them to me a good while ago now and I thought I should look into it a bit. Yeah I see the occasional reference to their songs here too.

i saw death cab in minneapolis in october and they were so solid! i think transatlanticism is the better album, but i absolutely love the photo album. "styrofoam plates" is the song i always cite when arguing the necessary potency of angry lyrics. the weird thing is now that they've signed to a major label (atlantic, i think), i heard them on the DMX at work - i was talking to my boss when i heard the opening guitar to "the new year" and it kind of freaked me out.

yea plus they are on the oc soundtrack, and a movie soundtrack as well...not to mention the vote for change tour. add this to gibbard's success with the postal service, they are on their way to being an "it" band

"the glove compartment is inaccurately named... and everybody knows it... so i'm proposing a swift orderly change... cause behind it's door there's nothing to keep my fingers warm..." i LOVE death cab... ben gibbard is a lyrical genius in my eyes
