Default The Voice

Hey all. This one is aimed at vocalists. Have any of you got any secrets as to giving your voice a richer tone? Increasing your range? Any good warm up tips? Any tips on projection apart from the obvious ones. Cheers, tj.

keep your throat clear. i.e. dont eat chocolate
be relaxed.

SING FROM YOUR BELLY!!!! dont lean over when you're singing.
make sure your heart is at a slow beat when you start singing. because you dont want to start and think wow my heart is pumping like hell.

sometimes a warm up can be a hinder.

warm up if you are doing.. choir singing, play singing, group singing.

dont warm up if you are doing emotional music like damiens because then when you do it after being warmed up there might be a voice in your head saying "i was better in the warm up!!".
if you want to go any further drink some honey the night before.

thats my advice,
Tim

For increasing your vocal range my choir teacher used to make us sing arpeggios up the scale, making sure we properly hit that highest note as strong as we could. Constant practice really expands your vocal range-I've experienced it myself. And for projection in my opinion imagery helps-imagine singing right to the other end of the hall, that sort of thing, or imagine that you are a really good singer... it workes in most cases. Also as you sing direct the voice sort of to the top of your mouth from your throat, instead of straight out... does that make any sense? It produces a slightly richer tone so your voice doesn't sound 'thin'. And it helps to sing higher and lower as well. (I'm a girl, so I use that technique to sing low notes which I normally cannot hit )
