Neither Am I & Music In Mouth
I wouldn't exactly call myself a Bell X1 fan, and I'm certainly no expert, but how come NAI is much better an album than MIM? A matter of personal taste for sure, but MIM really strikes me as a weaker album, especially for a sophomore effort. Whereas NAI has a handful of really great tunes (Godsong, Pinball Machine, Slowset, Beautiful Madness, etc.), the only track that stands out on MIM is Eve, The Apple Of My Eye, of which I actually like the live version (somebody posted a link to quite some time ago) better.
I know there've been numerous discussions on Bell X1 before (I'm fairly new to MIM), not sure whether the two albums were compared, but I was wondering what the rest of you thought.

well for me there's no comparison. i really like a few of the songs on neither am i, but there are no songs that i don't absolutely love on music in mouth. MIM is one of my favourite ever irish albums, and so so much stronger than their first album... strange that we have such different opinions, i assumed everyone preferred MIM...

well I think i agree with the majority when I say I prefer MIM...was trying to decide but then thought of when I'm sitting in the car listening to either album - MIM is always listened to in full with no track skipping while its rare that I don't skip a tune or 2 on NAI so I guess that says it all...
Like Emmett there really is no song on MIM I don't like lets hope Flock is as good!!

both are immense albums and there isnt a huge difference in quality...
neither am i is a great debut album and has some beautiful songs on it and music in mouth is a highly evolved and retrospecive album for me id go for music in mouth as its out on its own regards songwriting.

Funnily enough I listened to MIM for the first time in ages last night - I love every track but my very favourite is 'In Every Sunflower' which just makes me stop and catch my breath everytime I hear it.
So for the poll ....I much prefer MIM |
