Dude, I'm sorry you're hurting but that's a ridiculous statement.

You'll get through it buddy, it'll be OK and you'll meet someone else some day.

Don't worry about it.

Anyway, do you play any instruments? Easiest way to do it is to put a few chords together and try to find a melody over it.

what usually happens with me is i have the lyrics and i'm usually messing about with chords and riffs and things like that, and i put them together. that's when it works best for me. when i sit down with lyrics and try to come up with chords for it they always turn out crap. good luck and i hope you get over her!

Music first, lyrics second, that's a good start in songwriting...

Unless of course you have words that kick the shít out of anything Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan ever did. Then by all means forsake music, but otherwise the melody against the chord structure and counter melody of that structure is the best way to convey anything.

I wouldnt paticually agree that its always better to write the music first, sure most of my songs have developed out of the music but usually i have an idea even if its just an emotion or a story that i want to convey from that comes the feel for the music and then finally the lyrics based around my original idea. But i have wrote lyrics which i have put music to before successfully so it works all ways, its just what suits you.

Of course it is, build a chord sequence that suits the mood and adapt the singing over the top.
