It's true. A lovely girl named Michelle has confirmed this for me, after me making a tit of myself.

Good day all.

I'd like to think so... "9" sounds like an album name. So yes... It seems like it is news...
And you (may) have the distinguished honour of breaking the news.

It's quite possible that this topic will have a few hundred posts in several minutes.

The sixth of November is good enough for me. Also it's worth noting that this is only news over here, the folk over at damienrice.com have been sitting on this particular pearl of wisdom since before five o clock. Kudos to you, godless sodomites.

I wouldn't say that they have it before everyone else, I'd imagine that all the online shops were given a date to put up the record for sale and play have just jumped the gun or something, the original idea may have been to announce it on the site or the radio or something. Where's Emmett, I believe this constitutes "news"?

Should we make a more clear topic on this? I don't think this will get the proper attention.

is this for real? see at first i thought it had to be bogus because the release date looked like june 11th to me.. silly americans putting their months before their days..

if it IS for real.. YAY!! i don't think i've ever waited so patiently (well mostly patiently) for anything in my whole life..

i like "9" for a title, that's a very magical number

thanks guys, someone i don't know also sent me news that the new album had been handed in last week, and would go on sale at the end of october... so this play.com info seems like the new album, i'll try to get it confirmed.

In Japanese, nine phonetically sounds like the word for pain. But in Thai it's the same word that's used for change.
Nine is considered an unlucky number in music, it is traditionally associated with the death of the composer.

Well I wouldn't go that far, but out of all the numbers there is, it's odd that he chose that. 9 is a bad thing.

not odd at all. werent you saying you mentioned to him "whats with the number nine in your songs" or something like that e.g. Nine Crimes.

anyway im guessing that he doesnt know of the death of a composer malarkie

actually i've been thinking about that for a while, timo's right, it's gonna take much longer for the album to be realeased here. so i thought, someone in ireland could buy the album for us, since we still have time, we could send that nice irish eskimo the money for the cds and the shipping and s/he can mail'em all to one american eskimo who would mail them on to each one of us. i don't want to wait

am i making any sense? i'm kinda high

Kinda? That's not good enough missy... Either go cold turkey or get absolutely wasted, either way is fine. Halfway is no good. I'm sure we'll all end up posting copies of the album over the pond. It seems like the most logical thing to do anyway. Until it leaks on to the internet that is, which should be a few hours from now I suppose... Some enterprising play.com employee is breaking into the secure server as we speak I'm sure.

that'd be a tough call. i mean i want to wait until i have the actual album in my own hands, but if it gets leaked the temptation is gonna be brutal. november 6th 2006 sound like november 6th 2028

I doubt it'll actually be November sixth, even if there is a synchronised release date around the world, all Irish releases will be sold on the Friday prior to that. It's happened with some really big releases, like Nirvana's box set a few years ago, some shops just started selling it even though they could have been fined. Even still, I'd imagine that the release date over here will be late October since DRM are in charge in Ireland. The November sixth date is probably a download date only, it usually takes months rather then weeks to produce and licence enough cd's for territories like the UK and the US, and even so it's highly likely that the album will sell out it's first run here immediately.

should I order from play.com now or should I wait and order and reserve a copy in Road Recs?

Can you reserve copies of new CDs in Road?
