It is freezing in my basement, where the computer is. Well, it's not a basement actually, because it is above ground so it is really just the first level of our house, but we call it the basement. Townhouses are just not heat-efficient, grrr.

^ We're planning to get a space heater this week. Maybe that way my hands won't freeze when I'm typing. I just don't get why it is this cold in here, it is 71 degrees F on the main level and a bit warmer than that on the top level, the bottom level shouldn't be this much colder. I have three layers on, 2 pairs of socks and a pair of slippers on my feet, a stocking cap, and a blanket around my legs. Everyone else I know with a three-level house has the same problem in the winter.

What's got me down is that I drank some caffeine this morning and now I'm all jittery. I don't normally drink anything with caffeine in it, but I had a gift card to Starbucks and decided to stop on my way to work this morning for a treat as I'm still not used to this working-one-day-a-week thing, and they had no decaf chai so I went with the regular kind. Wish I could do something to expel all this nervous energy, but I can't exactly jump up and start dancing like I can at home

thanks, bear. well, there were 40 euro in there but it's more about the emotional value that's annoying me. to cancel all my cards will cost me some more money again. but as i said, the thing that's really annoying me is the loss of the things i was connected to emotionally.

well, if you want you can send me some of your caffeine. i could need some as i'm just in the university library trying to study but i can feel my energy level descending quite rapidly as the day is getting longer and longer...

I barely got some sleep last night because the all through the night about 100 km/h winds were blowing. They still haven't stopped.

Well, it seems a couple of kids died in just the next town when the sports installation's roof gave up the fight during a baseball match... I hope no-one from my school was involved.

And, what's more, just to end this terrific day spent locked in the house it seems my Itunes and Quickime died so I'm now officially screwed.

I nearly got into an accident this morning on my way to work . . . the main roads are all fine, but the local roads are all snowy and I almost careened into another car in the next lane, luckily there was nobody else on the road and I was able to stop in time, but it was close, and kind of shook me up. I'm going to leave work a bit early today to avoid all the traffic, as it is supposed to get worse before rush hour this evening. Just my luck, the one day I work this week is also the worst day weather-wise this week!

im cooold. Ive got like 1 layer cause i got barely any clothes left haha, put them in the wash last night and forgot to take them out, so they are all wet and cold!

A trip to the ER with my 2 year old. He fell and cut his face. I thought that he needed stitches, but they used superglue to seal the cut instead. I didn't know that they did that. Now, I just hope that he doesn't pick it all off. He was such a trooper. I was very proud of him.

^Oh, poor guy (and poor you - any trip to the ER is such an ordeal!) I'm glad he's ok. I'd just heard of using superglue to seal cuts the other day.

^ Yes, they actually call it Dermabond, but it is basically superglue for the face. They say that as long as you don't pick at it, it will heal better then stitches. So far so good. I am determined to have a drama free/accident free day. Wish me luck!

I had a talk with my supervisor in the school and from her few and mild criticisms I realised that schools still clash with my ideals with their fascist ways. For example she said that I should be more aware of showing a good example to the kids, especially by sitting properly and neatly, not as I usually do. Really? Is this still an issue in the 21st Century? Who cares if the kids sit, stand, are lying down or are galloping around the room on an alpaca if they are doing the task? Why are all kinds of gadgets banned from the school as if there was any rationale for keeping the modern world out of the Prussian fairytale? Is it really that important to keep up an authoritarian atmosphere of restrictions, regulations and humiliating punishments (shouting the kid's head off and then sending him/her out of the classroom just because of talking)? Isn't modern education about cooperation, earning authority (and not demanding it) and not about law and order? Isn't a modern teacher there to help and to guide?

After all the positive experiences from my amazing methodology teacher at uni and history, maths, literature and English teachers at secondary school it is not a pleasant feeling to realise I'm back in the climate that I was happy to escape ten years ago when I finished the first two years of secondary school and teachers begun to treat me like a human being and not like something that has to be moulded into shape and filled with useless prescribed knowledge.
