It is CRAP! First of all, I didn't know Damien did private performances...!! And secondly, what is this story of free CD sent if we donate? He'd send us a bootleg for free. Ha ha ha, they ARE free, it is illegal to sell them!

I saw his post on the Damienrice.com message board. I didn't know it was possible to hire Damien for a private show, perhaps there is some hopeof a private gig forus eskimos after all!

I agree I don't see him doing it either. Something just seems odd because you are basically whoring your wedding out on the internet for donations...odd to me. While yes it is a creative and romantic idea, do we get to go if we donate?!? Hell if this is the case I'm on board, a little dancing, some cake, a little Damien can't go wrong.

So lets get this right!! This bloke wants to book Damo to play at his wedding but because it costs so much he wants people to donate money to help him pay for it????? Is that right????? OK - I'M A MASSIVE DAMIEN RICE FAN AND WANT TO GO AND SEE HIM PLAY IN THE US!! MMMM!! MAYBE SOMEWHERE LIKE SAN FRANSISCO BUT CAN'T AFFORD IT!!! SO I'M ASKING FOR DONATIONS FOR MY AIR FARE AND HOTEL (SOMEWHERE NICE MIND, AT LEAST 4*, NONE OF THIS HOLIDAY INN BUSINESS FOR ME!!!). CHEQUES WILL BE ACCEPTED AS WELL AS TRANSFERS!!!!! Do you think it's a complete con or he's actually asking for real!!! minneken1911 - A purple velour 3 piece suit with a lilac ruffle shirt Thing is Damo could still carry it off and look cool!!!!

I love the image of the velour suit I think this guy asking is for real. Oh and I agree bjjl, I have never seen Damien in Ireland, and well you know I really want to go because it's something I have always wanted to do You know wouldn't this guy be better off saving the 80,000 he needs for oh I don't know let's say the marriage!!!! Maybe that is just what I would do because it would just make sense not to waste all that money. Who knows. |

I think it's his fiancee
I, too, think it's bogus - If Damien will play the gig for a hefty fee, then fine, pay it, but don't ask people to donate. How lame. |

or perhaps he wants to scam people out of money, cos everyone who donates, if damien does not dothe gig he would not give the money back

Sounds pretty dodgy to me,
I'm quite scared now, I sent that guy loads..(well like 4!) Damien songs, so he has my e-mail address!

If he does somehow manage to get him to do it hebetter hope Damo doesn't play "Cheers Darlin'" and/or it's sequel "Prague".

I think damien should do it, then when it gets all romantic he should break into rootless tree: f**k you, f**k you, f**k you and all the things you didn't do! |

This thread's taking an ugly turn.
This thing may be for real, in which case good luck to the guy. Why get personal? Are people just jealous that someone might get a private gig?

Yeah! (agreeing with Wheels, not jealous btw) Even if it is a scam anybody dumb enough to send himmoney deserves to get scammed anyway. If it isn't good luck to him! If it were my fiance who tried to pull off something like getting Damien to play for our wedding I'd probably adore him for it... who wouldn't?! |

True Wheels it's not good getting personal on the guy BUT I am shocked by the bare faced cheek of asking complete strangers to donate money to fund his wedding. Theres 2 options - 1 it's a complete scam which is bang out of order & 2 if it's not a scam he's asking people to donate their money for something superficial that he wants?? Of course theres always the argument of if you don't like it don't donate to it (which no one has done) but what if people did. It's wrong and stuff like this shouldn't even be allowed on e-bay in the 1st place. E-bay to me is such a good idea in principal but unfortunately it's being ruined by con-artists!!!
