I saw "Closer" the week it came out. At the time, I didn't know that Damien had done the soundtrack. I was pleasantly surprised when the screen lit up with the Columbia Pictures logo accompanied by the sound of "The Blower's Daughter."

The reason I went to see "Closer" had nothing to do with Damien, and everything to do with Natalie Portman and Mike Nichols.

i did, I rented the movie because I knew damien's music was in it. I thought the movie was great as well. Only stupid part was, they kept teasing us with the opening piano notes of Cold Water and they never actually played the song

Here here!

I did too.

And they were the only parts I enjoyed.

I actually saw it yesterday. My friend was badgering me about how good it was and since I went over to her place [and her knowing how big of a damo fan i am] she wanted to surprise me with the opening credits by playing the start of it. So we started to watch until the end of the song and I wouldn't let her turn it off. It had nothing to do with Damien but everything to do with Natalie Portman's character!

YEP, Natalie Portman is amazing in this movie!!! Perfect casting (unlike Julia Roberts by the way...). and I think the use of The Blower's Daughter in the opening scene is genious, when the guy sees Natalie Portman and literally cannot stop looking at her!!

Some lines in the script are classics
like: "Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes...but it's better if you do"!!!!!

I got into Damien because of Closer. Saw the movie because of Natalie. Read the play after I saw the movie and enjoyed it. I watched one of the trailers and there ARE deleted scenes, it's a shame the DVD was such a rip. other than the blower's daughter there were no bonuses! no interviews, zilch. sad.

anyways, the movie now is in most bargain bins, I've seen it for $8, pretty sad, I think it's a great movie, one of my favs, the dialogue is just so quick and witty.

Some of my favorite lines:

"Thank you, thank you for your honesty. Now **** off and die you ****ed up slag"

"What are you, twelve?"

"But you did like it?" "Yes, but I could go off it"

"Don't eat children either."

"Who are you?" "No one"

It's a shame there was no soundtrack for this movie.

also, fyi, the play starts in the hospital. the whole opening scene with The Blower's Daughter and the walking was added and I think it works wonderfully.

Does anyone know what song is played in the strip club when Larry first walks in to the club?

Tonight I tried playing Elephant over the final scenes instead of the blower's daughter and it didn't really work with the Natalie scene at the end, but I timed it so "die" lined up with the slap and it sorta bookend the movie nicely with the two parts of the blower's daughter, but didn't work as well as I had hoped, "horny" lined up with some creep turning around and checking out Jane/Alice though and I thought that was funny
