So i just saw Coldplay Sunday night and they were awesome!! Howling Bells and Snow Patrol opened for them and they were both pretty damn awesome too!!!

Howling bells were new to me so i did some research before i left and i actually liked what i heard.. she's very attractive and she had a great voice live... I expected the sound to be somewhat sub-par because it was at GM place (19,000+ people) and yeah.... but it was great sound and she sounded wonderful!

Then Snow Patrol came on and played my favorite song Run and got the crowd going a bit and they were great... Who doesn't want to hear another band from Ireland? lol

And then of course Coldplay came out and the party was really on! After they played Yellow and they threw the big yellow balloons out that pop and turn into confetti they mentioned that the show was being recorded for a LIVE VANCOUVER DVD!!!!! It was the second show in two nights (sat, sun) and they decided to record the second one!! it was sooo kool! lol...

Besides the show being awesome Coldplay has started a thing called the "coldwave" and if you haven't heard about it or seen it it's realllly kool. It's basically a simple wave folks would do at a hockey game or whatever sporting event but only this wave is in the dark. All the lights are turned off and everyone takes out their phones/lighters... anything that creates light. With their light by their side they wait for the countdown and one corner starts the wave and it goes around.. it was really kool! there's some examples of it on youtube but hopefully it will be on the DVD in a better picture than what i have found on youtube... IT was pretty neat tho...

Oh! and they completely surprised everyone when they walked from one end of thebulding to the other to about 14 rows up into the audiance and the first 4 seats into that row they played a few songs from!!! it was crazy! I think we made them come out for a second encore too but i'm not sure.... it's hard to say if the first one was an encore or not haha...

awesome night tho! really looking forward to the DVD!!!!

i went to the donauinselfest last night and saw snow patrol, christl stürmer (well, she was just on the stage when we passed that one) the gipsies and other bands i didn't know. we weren't there too long, so i guess i missed the one or the other good band but well, there'll be another one next year.
the great thing about this festival is that it takes place once a year for three days and loads of radio stations and i don't know what get those bands to play a set and you can go there whenever you want, it's for free and it's set in the middle of the danube on an island which i think is pretty kewl.

I saw Regina Spektor at the Serpentine Sessions in Hyde Park last night Absolutely incredible, she was so cute and happy and smiley, it was amazing. She clearly absolutely loves performing, it was as though she couldn't believe we were all screaming and applauding for her! I want to see her again already

I saw Dan Mangan and Sam Roberts for free!! Dan played for about an Hour or so and was awesome! U can see my long post about it in the Dan Mangan thread. Sam roberts played for about hour and 15 mins? I can't say for sure but they both did at least an hour and Sam Roberts did a 1 song Encore which was awesome! I was kind of over Sam Roberts but seeing them live i'm interested in them a bit again. It was really fun!

The night before I went to Jason Mraz and omg it was even better than the last time I saw him! He played a new Song that's not exactly new since it's been played before but it's unreleased and he said it'll be on his next album "Never too late (aka The only life u can save)" and it was aweesome! Originally the convert wasn't supposed to be as big as it turned out to be. When i bought my tickets online it showed only one end of the rink for seats to be sold but they expanded it to pretty much the same size as coldplay with out the upper balcony. We were are the opposite end middle of the stands expecting him to be closer but it was still great! They did a thing very similar to what coldplay did and they had a second mini stage where the camera and sound guys were. They came to the little mini stage for the encore and played 2-3 songs there i believe includding the new song. So we in a way did get to see it like we originally planned it. lol.

But it was an awesome show, K'nann opened for him but i'm not really a fan but he was interesting... lol. Jason was even better than last time and it was just freaking awesome! Not much more that i can say about it... Youtube Jason Mraz Vancouver if you want to see some stuff from it! lots of videos uploaded. It was at GM place if u want to be really specific in your search.

greeeeaaaaaat showwww. i don't have a set list because i'm bad at remembering to do those things... lol

Was at Rodrigo y Gabriella last night in the intimate academy. Was sold out but it didnt feel overfull. Really great show from 2 of the most humble performers.

i saw roxette on monday, after 16 years. i was a big fan when i was a teenager so it was a magical night for me and for all the people there. the energy and the atmosphere were superlative, i mean it. sadly everybody noticed that marie isn´t what she used to be anymore, but she still sings wonderfully (oh, i still got the chills for sure and so did everybody else in the room) and she enjoyed being on stage so so much and the whole band did it as well. here it is what per posted after the first show:

^Love lissie. She's got a few songs that I absolutely love!

Saw Raphael Saadiq on the 12th and Quadron was supposed to open but she never showed up or something... I was really disappointed that she never made it but Raphael was wicked and he played for about 2.5 hours. They put on a great show and sounded amazing at the commodore ballroom. To me he's one of those guys that puts on a fantastic show that you just know you'll look back at in the future and say, "I was at the commodore when he played there before he made it to the big stage." because he has this great energy and just an amazing show.

Ramble ramble ramble, it was awesome.

Just saw Mother Mother last night. What an amazing show that was. To me I find something unique about that band in the way they have 3 singers and 2 of them being female... they are used in a different way then you hear in a lot of other bands and to me it's kind of a fresh sound. But they rocked it and it was an amazing night. The crowd was rowdy when it should be and it was a fight for me a majority of the time to stay near the front. But all in all a great great concert. Highly recommend seeing Mother Mother.

went to see Laura Marling last night. not the festival I was complaining about, she played in this tiny place/bar similar to where Damo played here in San Telmo. I suck at estimating this kind of things but I guess there were only about 100 people there.
it was pretty good, she seems like a sweet but shy girl. and she's soo skinny she played a new song which was fantastic. I think it's called "Heaven Again"

when to see Sufjan Stevens yesterday in his electro-Sufjan incarnation loooooooooved it, especially the opening Seven Swans, in which Sufjan was dressed like a swan with like 3 m wide wings the 30-min long Impossible Soul!!!!! and the encore that had the classic John Wayne Gacy Jr and a final Chicago with giant balloons falling from the sky and everybody dancing like crazy!!!! made some videos too!!

John Wayne Jr in all its beauty:

Chicago in all its crazyness:

Yes Sufjan Stevens show was sick. Kind of made me want to get high. Don't know if that's a good sign or not.
