Who is "Bird"?
Hey!
While listening (and viewing the lyrics in the same time), I've noticed that the literary motif of "bird" appears in many songs. And it refers to a person, as far as I can figure it out. Let's see: 1. The Sea Sew album was dedicated to Bueno and the Birds, right? (I don't have the booklet of the cd, but I think I remember well) 2. There's a song titled Little Bird... 3. On Passenger, the chorous goes like this: "She said Bird, why?" 4. (and most important, I think) Lyrics on Nowhere to Go: "Bird, you've so many hearts on your sleeve.[...]" and "Bird, we've so many days spent beside this sulk of a river, now we're deep down dyed" So, there's a mystery! Who do you think is Bird?

i'm not sure it means anything... if it does, I'm sure it would be personal.

Lisa actually answered this question during the livestream - apparently it refers to a number of people or is just a general term. She said she and Una both refer to each other respectively as "Bird" sometimes, kind of like in Passenger when it goes "I said bird, why? / She said bird, why?"
Then in "Little Bird" its supposed to be a bit of a reference I think to birds in general and how they have freedoms and things like that. But yes - though she calls Una "Bird," i think on the album in particular there's a variety of "birds." |
