Default Possible new damien interview

We will hopefully be getting a new Damien Rice interview soon! Just a tidbit for now, from The O-Zone:

Quote:
Thursday

The OZone scored a bit of a journalistic coup last week when notoriously publicity-shy musician Damien Rice finally agreed to do an interview. It was his first in three years, went very well, and I spend this morning writing it up.

Rice has certainly had an interesting decade. When his debut album O was released in 2002, he realistically expected it to shift something in the region of 1,000 copies. It has now sold more than two million worldwide.

The singer still seems somewhat bemused at O's massive success. "Well yeah, obviously it went a lot bigger than any of us had thought. Because I do remember a funny scenario where I was trying to figure out a payment for the band, you know, and I said to them, 'Do you want to get a percentage, or do you want to get payment?' And so we sat down and tried to calculate how many copies we thought we'd sell. So we tried to figure out if I paid them £100 a song, or something, would that be fair.

"And Shane [Fitzsimons], the bass player, who had been used to doing sessions for a number of different bands around Dublin said, 'I'll take the money' [laughs]. And I was like, 'Okay'. And then everyone else went on the percentage, and it was very funny . . . but we put him on a percentage later on, as a token gesture. It was funny. So, nobody had any idea."

Whouaahhww, you couldn't have done a better "touting eye-catching" title !
I always wary of these "people" magazine. Most of the time, they take portion of phrases wich meaning is quite different in the real context. I mean the phrase in its globality plus the before and after portion of the discution. Sometimes, those magazine write their "own title" supposed to match the interview. So... will wait to read it in its globality. But sure, this is very SURPRISING !!!

lol. i was thinking the same thing almost the whole afternoon. i don´t know why (and believe me, i´m very busy these days!) i was totally hooked by that phrase and thought exactly what you´re saying, sam. but i also think how painful was the situation (i mean, breaking up situations in general), especially to lisa, since she hadn´t made a choise. she couldn´t have...

anyway. i felt sad for a while, but i guess it wasn´t just because of the title...

i seconded joy. thanks daniel.

Since this was such a big interview I imagine Damien would have a say in all............

all in all disturbing from a selfish perspective but hopefully he did this as some sort of catharsis.......hopefully we can all indulge soon in what it really says as you point out Samart

^hehe still processing too!!!! still in shock well it kinda confirms what we all knew (or at least I thought I knew), but to read it in his own words...

and the ending:

"I would give away all the music success, all the songs, and the whole experience... to still have Lisa in my life"

Fair play to Damien, that's a very open interview and one that we could all never have imagined him doing. It shows the kind of place he's in right now - I'm filled with excitement for this collaboration stuff even more so now. Hopefully Lisa can take heart out of this piece as well. There is no way I'd want her to return to the fold from seeing how spectacular she is upfront, but how wonderful would it be to see a collaboration concert: Some DR stuff, some LH stuff then some DR+LH stuff mmmm
