Default Volcano intro chords

Hey eskimos! I used to frequent this site often, but for some reason it dropped out of my radar for awhile. I'm a huge damien rice fan, of course

I'm trying to figure out what Damien plays live during Volcano before the Am-G-F progression starts.

There is a good video of what I am talking about.

All help is appreciated. I believe that I am certainly not the best guitarist around here, certainly someone has figured it out!

From what I've seen and what I do, it's a little walk up the A pentatonic blues scale, specifically 4-b5-5. Then he hits that Am a couple times, and this big E chord for the turnaround. Tabbed out, it goes like this:

------------5---5---X---0---
------------5---5---X---0---
------------5---5---X---0---
------------7---7---X---0---
--5--6--7---7---7---X---7---
------------5---5---X---0---
. . . . . . . . Am . . . . . . . E

A couple things...you can screw around with the Am a bit. I usually play 5-7-7-5-0-0 and do some hammers and things on the D string. At the X part, strum the muted strings like a bastard. The E also has a lot of open space in it, it's the only part I'm not exactly sure how he plays it except for the bottom three strings. That's what the video you posted looks like and also how I generally play it. More recently I've been doing 0-7-0-7-0-0 because I like that little added color of the D in the E chord...a little blusier, a little more dissonance. It's up to you. What I tabbed out up top there, though, seems to be the right version.
