Well, I was in Le Trianon too. I come from barcelona just to see Damien, and it was awsome, incredible. I'd never saw some similar. I think Damien did his best. More people of here was in the concert¿¿??

you have a good french, it's alright
yes he played for a long time ; he was with 2 guitar (the acoustic u can see on the videos) and an electric and a piano (that Kate Earl had played with), but only for one song.
No i have not met him after the concert, but i have not waited for it, that is not the kind of things i do.

ah ok!
well, first he plays something, and while he is palying, he is recording, then he plays something else and records it too. Then he sings something and records it. And with the pedals (is it the good word??) he uses it to make them play the sequences he has recorded to be able to create a new thing. he can add something (u can see him playing another thing) or just let it play (when he let the guitar)
hope u understand...

^^"A Piano Thing" was in fact the infamous Accidental Babies. Nice to finally hear it. Great gig

Well, after spending 28 hours awake wandering around Paris and stumbling home, I've finally recovered enough to write about the gig!!

In true tourist style, we headed straight for the Notre Dame (it's awe-inspiring); the Eiffel Tower (the view is unbelievable); the Champs d'Elysée and the Arc de Triomphe (exhausting walk, but worth seeing!). We squeezed in a visit to a pavement café, looked in the window of a cheese shop, bought a mini-Eiffel Tower, caught the Metro at rush hour (not such a highlight!), nearly got run over (I'll never understand how French roads work!)... truely a fantastic day

Then, of course, the gig itself. Firstly, the Trianon itself is a beautiful little venue, absolutely perfect for an intimate gig. We were sitting in the stalls, fairly close to the back (in fact I was sitting just behind the sound mixing desk) but still with a great view of the stage...

After a few sneak-peeks at Damien as he peered around the curtains, Kate Earl kicked off the night with her fantastic set. She's real pretty , and she's got the songs to match. It was the perfect introduction, and her appearance in the theatre at the "interval" to hand out some promo CDs was nice. One American lady made me smile, shouting across the stalls "Hey! She's got CDs! And they're FREE!". I know I took my copy because I liked the music, not just because there was free music on offer!

It struck me about 15 minutes in to Katy's set that - oh my God! - I was about to witness not only my first proper gig, but also see the amazing Damien Rice live. I knew at that point that the rest of the night would be incredible...

Just as with "O", the night opened with Delicate. It was fantastic that - being with three of my best friends - we all went into the gig hoping to hear our own favourites. Playing so many songs from "O" or "B-sides", none of us left disappointed. I Remember was amazing, and The Blower's Daughter (Part 2) was a nice surprise for my mates only acquainted with the album tracks...

Damien's attempts at French were gallant, if not entirely accurate! But they made everyone laugh, and the atmosphere couldn't have been more friendly (especially with so many Irish in the crowd!!). But it's testament to Damien's ability and presence that he can move from joking and laughing to such amazingly moving songs as Cannonball and (the tear-jerking) Accidental Babies... Woman Like A Man was simply amazing!

The Blower's Daughter is for me one of Damien's greatest songs, and he didn't let me down. After the London gig (my friend Tom went), we were worried that he wouldn't have time to play it... the sigh of relief on the opening notes was well justified!

Taking Aime into When Doves Cry/Hallelujah was again, heart-stopping. The whole hall fell into silence and wonder as Damien took us all to places we never expected to go. Just incredible. Kate Earl rejoined the stage for Cold Water, and by this point there was no holding back the tears! Older Chests ended the perfect day.

The night was still young for us though! With the gig over by about 10h30, we still had until 6h46 the next morning before we could check-in for the train home! The Sacré Coeur is another beautiful building - Paris is full of them! - and although it was raining and cloudy, the view across the city was still amazing. Spending the rest of the evening in the very friendly and very useful Maison Blanche opposite the Gare du Nord, over hot chocolate and a truck-load of amazing memories... bliss!

Thank you Paris (you're beautiful and friendly, if sometimes a little dangerous!)
Thank you Trianon (you're inviting, intimate and easy to find!)
Thank you Kate Earl (I'm looking forward to an album!)
Thank you Damien Rice (We all had the most amazing time)

Bozz

you spent a very good time in Paris so!!
i am so sorry that i was raining... but as you could see Paris even with the rain is beautiful. And the Trianon is a very very good place, you can be everywhere inside you have a good view on the scene.
yeah, Damien made us laugh, but he has had a thought for you Irish people, you were numerous!
i really loved when he has sang a cappella...

i was sure Manu wouldn't stop there! (next we'll see his ticket maybe) lol
je provoque, je provoque...
it's a picture of the paper we could have, it has the size of a cd. there were papers like that everywhere. That was really different from the other concerts, more "share with me" than "you have paid, here I am", it was really for the burma action.
and look!! PRINTED ON RECYCLED PAPER that is very good!!!!

(I'm guessing that's what you meant!)

Because he'd set up the looping vocals and guitar, there wasn't any need for him to be on stage for the last part of the song! So he took a comedy bow and walked off stage for a bit!

Bozz (still buzzing!)
