mestonf, i know you were joking, but i can't help but acting when i hear remarks like that, thinking: what if i was a gay man reading this, how would that make me feel? I think it'd hurt meandmake me feel a little less welcome around here, and i want this to be a place where everybody feels welcome, regardless.
i do think making jokes about homosexuals is kinda the same as making fun of a particular race/religion, etc. It is stereotyping a particular group or category of ppl from a small part of what they look like/what god they pray to/who they shag, etc etc., and i find that a repressive mechanism, even in small doses, cause it can affect the way you allow yourself to think of other ppl.
I don't take you for a homophobic twat or anything, i mean, i bet we all stereotypize (sp?)like that every once in a while; i just had to react on those remarks/jokes, whatever was meant by them.
