Finally some news!!!!!! From their myspace, which has been updated with a new pic (the album cover??) and lots of new in regards of the new album out Sep 29 and titled Strict Joy. EU to follow too

The Swell Season, the Oscar-winning duo of Frames frontman Glen Hansard and Czech ingénue Marketa Irglova, are putting the finishing touches on ‘Strict Joy,’ (Sept 29/Anti- Records), the follow-up to their beloved, surprise hit 2007 film and gold-certified soundtrack ‘Once.’ The twelve new, original songs on ‘Strict Joy’ were recorded last year and document a time of great change.

‘Strict Joy,’ which borrows its name from a work by Irish poet James Stephens, was co-produced by Hansard and Peter Katis (The National, Interpol), and recorded mostly at Katis’ Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, CT. In addition to Hansard and Irglova, the album features Frames members Colm Mac Iomaire (violin), Joe Doyle (bass), Rob Bochnik (guitar), Graham Hopkins (percussion) plus guitarist Javier Mas (Leonard Cohen), pianist Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), percussionist Chad Taylor (Chicago Underground Duo), horn players Steven Bernstein and Clark Gayton from Levon Helm’s band, and others.

This is a pretty good recording of it... i don't know how this person got it or if it's from a live show but it's the cleanest/clearest version i've heard yet without fans and stuff... I doubt it's been renamed but i'm hoping! lol

Speaking of songs being omitted from the album, has anyone heard "Golden"? Not "Gold" by the Interference on Once, but "Golden". I've just finished listening to it NPR's live concert of The Swell Season back in 2007 and gotta say, it is absolutely amazing. It says that it's been around for a while, but as far as I know, it hasn't been on any of the Frames's album. So why not Strict Joy?

just noticed that the release date Sep 29 is a Tue = means it's the US release

^Accordng to the Anti-records website it appears the sept 29-09 release date is only for US-release.

The website also says this:

I LOVE "Golden" and I too was hoping it'd be included in the album, but at least it's featured on the "Live from the Artists Den" DVD so there's an excellent recording of it available. "Concentric" is also there, good one too.

album release schedule pushed back to late october, euro dates have to be rescheduled as band needed in america for november now. looks like uk in mid jan and europe in feb now...
