Default People Festival 2018 review

Just back from the 2nd edition of the People festival in Berlin, like the 1st one, I enjoyed very much, the quality of the performances compensated for the stress and the queuing and overall it was again a great experience.
Again we were pretty lucky cos we managed to see Damo both days at the big room + a gig outside in the forest, so we cannot complain, plus we saw Lisa, Bon Iver, Feist etc all multiple times.

First day Damo played in the "circle of folk" together with Justin from Bon iver, the guy from Kings of Convinience and a friend of Justin. Was something spectacular and Dam eat them all up alive and his performance was by far the most cheered up and applauded. He did Trusty & True with cantus domus.

2nd day he did Trusty & True again plus Astronaut, again with cantus domus and with Mariam too. Really loved Astronaut. Everybody was astonished.

Then he did a show outside in the forest stage:
The professor
Delicate
Astronaut
Amie
The box
Volcano

Thanks a lot Borneoman,
for the review and the videos !

I loved the moment when Adam Cohen explain the song with the voice of his father and everything was so emotional...

and some goosebumps...

yes, that a highlight for sure
it was something like "listen to the hummingbird, don't listen to me, listen to the butterfly, don't listen to me"

By Philip Moss:

Across In Saal One,
an emotional Adam Cohen played a track
that he’d been working on with Damien Rice using the last ever recording of his late father being interviewed –
while Rice, Erlend Øye, Sam Amidon and Justin Vernon, plus a choir – added live backing vocals and harmonies.
A performance that still sends the hairs a shootin’ just thinking about it.

or at least Damien's, which was the performance that got everybody on their feet and clapping, clearly the highlight of the folk circle
this Sam was ok but the weakest out of the 4, bon iver was a bit disappointing but I think it was due to song choice (I sound like an Xfactor judge)

I really like Vincent Moon‘s unusual approach to filming live events like that. It‘s very unintrusive and intimate, which is exactly what the event asked for. It was meant to be experienced there and then in the first place, so they were carefully trying to avoid disrupting the atmosphere with cameras in people‘s faces. I was lucky to enough to experience another set with Damien in Saal 1, but this one also gives me chills and fond memories of a similarly intense performance.

looks like they're doing something similar in May but in New York this time
Damo is not on the list though, which includes Bon Iver, Dressler etc
