Brolly Beats Blyrics
I've been wanting to do this for a while, unfortunately I don't have the time tonight to beat it out comprehensively but I'm providing a medium for everyone else to have a go!
Here's the two videos we have, I think I remember noticing a recording of it somewhere but I don't have it. ___ It's slow and gone, the carry on from the winter It is no matter If you remember O baby ??????? wine, too much beside Whiskey I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up In my sleeve Now it is your life And know that I wrote this And if you tell a lie Where no one will notice And the view and I When I was laughing Why-'d you stay quiet We were surrounded It's slow and gone, the carry on from the winter I asked you upstairs (o O o) And soon we tangled in/with my hair You were never one for chronic chattering Your heartbeating I flew my colours I flew my colours Like a sail Now it is your life And know that I wrote this And if you tell a lie Where no one will notice And of you and I When I was laughing Why-'d you stay quiet We were surrounded I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up _ I love doing lyrics because it just makes me analyse how emphatically beautiful Lisers voice is. I hear...
"you were never one for chronic chattering" and "Now it is your life, I know that I wrote it" can't decipher anything else as yet... |

On the first verse:
Its slow and gone ? carry on from the winter It is no matter If you remember O baby bad wine And too much bedside Whiskey I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up In my sleeve' Does any of that sound about right?

I think it might be:
On the first verse: Its slow and gone the carry on from the winter Second verse: On the first verse: Its slow and gone that carry on from december

Right we've near enough got it finished.
The december/winter point is interesting; December fits into the rhyme better but as the Roisin Dubh is the only full version we have, and it clearly says winter twice we'll use that. |

Well, in the recording from Leeds (here) she first sings 'winter' and than 'december' and in the first video, which includes the second vers only, she sings december as well, so I'd go for 'december' in the secomd vers...
I also agree with maria...I think the line is: O baby bad wine And too much bedside Whiskey also, I think it's: Now it is your life I know that i wrote it And if you tell a lie Where no one will notice And though you and I When I was laughing Why-'d you stay quiet We were surrounded and I'm not sure about the 'when I was laughing' part...

I think i'm with you on this one. I'm not too sure of that line anymore. But the rest is done I thnk:
Brolly Beats Its slow and gone the carry on from the winter It is no matter If you remember O baby bad wine And too much bedside Whiskey I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up In my sleeve' Now it is your life I know that I wrote it And if you tell a lie Well no one will notice And though you and I When I was laughing Why-'d you stay quiet We were surrounded Its slow and gone the carry on from december I asked you upstairs (o O o) And soon we tangled in/with my hair You were never one chronic chattering Your heartbeating WhileI flew my colours I flew my colours Like a sail And now it is your life I know that I wrote it And if you tell a lie Well no one will notice And though you and I When I was laughing Why-'d you stay quiet We were surrounded I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up __________________

I think the first line starts "it's long gone..."
and in the chorus (the second time), "And though you and I When I was laughing" I hear "And though you were mine when I was ???"

Agree on long gone also.
I hear red wine, instead of bad wine... Couldn't imagine Lisa drinkin too much bad wine, wouldn't have put her down as a Buckfast kind of lady. Also, instead of "I know that I wrote it", I hear "I know that I wrote this." it does semi-rhyme with notice... I don't think we're gonna get to the bottom of this laughing line, it doesn't make sence but I honestly can't hear anything else. |

I hear something completely different -
"and out of you and I well I was the loudest, and while you stay quiet we were surrounded"

Hello!
Wonderful song,in deed! Beautiful music and lyrics (as always ) Just a little thing. I hear : "And now it is your line" (it fits better with the second verse, "i know that i wrote it") Happy friday, Ana

a year later... has anyone deciphered these lyrics yet? There's one line that totally throws me...
It's long gone to carry on from the winter It is no matter, if you remember Mold, paper, bad wine, and too much bedside whiskey (???) I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up in my sleeve Now it is your line I know that I wrote it And if you tell a lie Well, no one would notice And to you and I Well, I was the loudest While you stayed quiet We were surrounded It's long gone to carry on from December I asked you upstairs Until we tangled in my hair You were never one for chronic chattering Your heartbeat pale While I flew my colors I flew my colors like a sail Now it is your line I know that I wrote it And if you tell a lie Well, no one would notice And to you and I Well, I was the loudest While you stayed quiet We were surrounded I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up I will roll my heart up |

well, i´m not an expert at all, but this is what i hear different from the studio version, on the first lines:
"It's long gone that carry on from december (by reading what you guys wrote a long ago, i think she switched the lines from the live version) (...) Mold (i copied this one, he), paper, bad wine, and too much better whiskey". [EDIT: no better, che] on the third verse, would be: "It's long gone that carry on from the winter". it sounds like a sort of a sweet resentment to me. i really like this song, especially this line: "while (or when or whatever) i flew my colours like a sail"
