How big is machester apollo? Always got the impression it was a fairly small venue (don't know where i got that from!)

Yeah the Apollo is a great venue. It's not tiny, but it's not aircraft hangar sized either. The sound and views are good from no matter where you are.
The MEN on the other hand, where Damo is playing in October, is cavernous. |

Saw Coldplay at MEN last year - only half of the seats were used then. Wonder if this was deliberate, as Coldplay are such a well known band and i'm sure that tickets were sold out for that particular gig. Richard Ashcroft was supporting and he looked a little lost! Very very good though.
It's a very big venue, don't know how they could make it smaller - very surprising choice. |

I was at that gig! And that was the full arena that was being used.
When they use only half, the stage is half way along the "pitch" standing area. |

Might not be too bad then! I enjoyed that gig. Was pregnant at the time so in seating! Normally like to be standing at a gig like that, feel more involved some how. Always liked Richard Ashcroft, don't suppose you heard him playing acoustically on Radio 1 shortly afterwards on Chris Moyles show - totally hypnotic. Personally feel that MEN was too big a venue for him and spoilt it a little. Worried same could happen to Damien.....

Did you say that you've got seats for Apollo? Beginning to wish that i had bought seating tickets instead of standing tickets. Want a good view which means limited visits to the bar! Saw on ebay that someone is selling standing tickets as "front row standing tickets"...

That's great, had a little panic that the seating plan wasn't as I had expected, but no worries now.
Especially looking forward to the Apollo gig as its a great venue and pretty small which is ideal. |

I'm intregued to see what tickets go on sale tomorrow - Seeing as nobody seems to have row C - A anywhere yet, perhaps they were not on today? If that is the case, I may be slightly tempted to get a couple more in the front row
I'm very happy to have row D though, it'll be great. x |

I know what you mean - I'll have to make a conscious decision to be anywhere but near a computer tommorow! Row D is great, I'm really pleased - might end up sitting next to a fellow eskimo!

This is my first post here so i'll say a quick "Hi guys and gals!"
I was just lurking after ordering my own tickets for the MEN gig in october, and thought i'd register and make a quick post about something... After comparing the seat details to the various floor plans shown on the MEN's website, it does actually look like it'll be a 'Half House' layout (as described earlier in the thread, where the stage is set up halfway along the centre of the venue: see the MEN's own seating plan >HERE< ). It's the only floor plan which fits with the specific description of the tickets i have ordered. So that should help when it comes to worrying about the intimacy of the gig. [*See note at bottom of post.] This has been great news for me as i'd been quite depressed about only getting distant seats at the Apollo show in march, mainly thanks to me never getting an email about there being any pre-sale for that gig. For me personally, i'd say that even the worst seats at an MEN 'Half House' show are usually better than poor seats at the Apollo (although i'd always take good downstairs seats at the Apollo over similar seats at the MEN - but since the Apollo gig isn't seated downstairs and i can't take standing tickets due to health issues, i guess making comparisons is kind of pointless anyway ). *EDIT: Rusholme Ruffian was right and i was wrong - it IS a full house show. Didn't want to leave my post misleading after finding out i was wrong. Last edited by Teppic; 01-26-2007 at 09:06 PM. |

Heya and welcome Teppic!
I hate to be rubbish and disagree with you and that, but there were seats on sale for the MEN in block 102. I know, because I almost bought them. Instead I bought tickets in block C which is also, as far as I know, only used in a "full house" type of layout. So, sadly, I think it is indeed a full house layout, fully seated. Sorry |

I got Block B, row B at Manchester this morning so I'm really pleased
My sister can have the other tickets I bought yesterday. Row B! Interestingly there's no mad scramble for tickets this morning at all. I wonder if these gigs will sell out? |
