Didnt he once get drunk JUST to sing cheers darlin' ? What was it like if anyone knows. I would have thought it could never be up to the way it was on o. |

Yeah, he was stoned in the paradiso show which was the 15th of august '03... i have the whole show on video, it's a good one. Something tells me though, that him being slightly stoned onstage isn't exactly the rarest thing to ever happen. He often gets monumentally drunk to sing cheers darlin', usually when they play it, it's the last song, and damien isn't a great drinker... so he'd drink off a bottle of wine and stumble his way through the last song, hilarious.

In one of his interviews the interviewer actually wrote that he could get the smell of stale pot in the next room from the jammin' session he had the night before

I've seen him headline 2 shows in San Francisco - for both of them he at least had some wine or a beer during 'cheers darlin' - at one of the the shows, someone passed an oblong, burning object from the crowd onto the stage, but I was not close enough to definitively comment on the contents of said object.
As a musician myself, I've found that having a nice, mild buzz is the best way to take the stage. Keeps you from overthinking, banishes any butterflies, etc. |
