ok, thank you very much! i can't get the BBC radio to work : ( maybe i'll go try on the good family computer that doesn't suck!
ps. drumworkshop, the people on here get anal about posting things like that, BUT most don't have a problem if you send things like that through PM's : ) i personally have NO problem with people posting it, because i feel that if you are going to rant about how good it is then you should be willing to let others freely listen to it also and freely share it! if it is a crime to share it then you shouldn't have it also! but for your sake of not getting flamed... keep it in PM's take care man!

Yep, and of course all the songwriters from the 70s-80s paved the way for David Gray/Damien Rice who at the same time paved it for the newest generation. the key album in here is David Gray White Ladder which was like the best selling in the UK in the early 00s. Record companies realised that a singer-songwritter could sell well and they started looking for a similar thing like crazy and most of the time they came up with fake manufactered artists which put zero soul in their music but sell well because they come with the songwritter tag attached. That's what IMO Zane Lowe was talking about which I believe it's 100% true

drumworkshop, thanks for the PM i appreciate it!
borneoman, check your PM's in a few. i have mixed feelings about this version of 9 crimes. to be completely honest... i don't like this one nearly as much as the other version. it just feels too studio and less raw emotion like i'm use to hearing on 9crimes. don't get me wrong though, i love this! lisa sounds so pretty! i just miss the more powerful raw power that i'm use to with this song!

Thank you carvinC980t_kid.
And I think on a whole that Damien is better live than in the studio. But he is also better in the studio than most people out there.

Isnt it fitting that the first single off the new album is gonna be 9 Crimes...which has a nine in it. Im wondering what the theme of this album is gonna be...i mean i heard there was suppose to be more electric guitar in it, which would be cool but im more into the accoustic sounds of Damien Rice. Also with the release of "O", us kindly folk over here in the states didnt get it until about a year later or something close to that. So does that mean we're gonna have to wait again? I hope not cause i really really really really REALLY want this album.

i'm a little disappointed. it's so short with like two verses, not giving it much time to develop into a climax, like all his other songs. because of the speed and tone of the song, i was starting to really get into when the cello came in, but before i actually got a chance to REALLY "feel" it, the dj's voice came back on and that was it.
oh well, it was definitely better than most other songs i've heard. i still think he's amazing and can't wait for his new album. |

Pretty pretty please? ? |

Christ, how about actually buying the CD when it comes out instead of just ripping it and listening to it? I know how Damien would feel about this. Impatience aint a virtue. |

Basically, the way I see it is that the radio show version is quite simply, a pretty low quality version with talking over the top. It is just a serving of things to come. I'm pretty sure anyone who downloads the mp3 rip would call themselves a fan and would buy the CD anyway.
I think people have a good reason to be impatient |

it's really great, but yeah i agree - it does sound like the song has been cut - maybe the climax is coming later in the song?
I have permanent goosebumps for the rest of the day I think... The radio presenters talk about it as if they have a a full record now, perhaps the advance copy is already out?

To be honest, and I'm actually a little nervous to say this to you lot, but I'm not as impressed as I was expecting to be.
I'm not saying I don't like it, I just think the recent recording of him playing it live (on youtube) is such a better sound for the song. If he'd come in with his part, in the same was he does on the live version for the second verse, it would have been perfect, for me. It doesn't seem to carry that self loathing feel that I associate with the song. Maybe it'll grow on me, I'm only on listen number 4. |

I think you're lying to yourself.
The only way I can see myself really enjoying this, is if it kind of takes the same role as 'seaside' on the Kooks album. I don't really count that as a song, I count it as an introduction.... Hmmmm. |
