Seriously thinking about learning the cello and wanted some advice/input from other cellists. Like , bad idea its too hard, or how to choose the right instrument etc etc.

hey Petra,

i play the cello, and have been doing so for 6 years, its not terribly hard, if you are determined enough you could easily teach yourself the basics with the help of some books , really there is no way to see which instrument is best for you, i think you should just try out each, like hold a violin/viola, and see if you would be comfortable holding it that way, or you can go the easier way, and sit down and play the cello.anywho, if you have anymore cello q's , private message me :O)

Cheers,

Krystian

I now have my cello and went out and bought a bow yesterday. What a gorgeous instrument. It soundsgood even before i know how to play it! Now i just need to organise a teacher. I wonder if Oli Kraus has an hour or so free each week!!
