<T>
<TR>
<TD width=10></TD>
<TD width=468> </IMG>There's been a swift response from the Irish rock community to the tsunami disaster.

Ronnie Drew, Shane MacGowan, Paddy Casey, Kila, Liam O Maonlai, David Kitt, Eamon Campbell, Barney McKenna, Terry Woods, Aprés Match, Joe Rooney, Karl Spain, Reuben and David McSavage are doing their bit for the Red Cross in the RDS Main Hall on January 8.
Tickets for this relief show are on sale now priced €35.
The 'house full' signs are also likely to go up early on January 23 when Linda Martin, Niamh Kavanagh, Paul Harrington, Charlie McGettigan and Eimear Quinn, Mickey Harte, Chris Doran, Twink, Red Hurley and Shirley Temple Bar unite at the Olympia under the Eurovision For Asia banner.
The fundraising action switches to Vicar St. on February 1 and 2 with BellX1, David O'Doherty, Mark Geary, Doctor Millar, Eddie Bannon and The Chalets providing the musical 'n' comedy mix the first night, and David Kitt, Mundy, Jason Byrne, Turn, John Henderson, Dermot Carmody and Life After Modeling doing the honours on Wednesday.
Tickets priced €25 are on sale now with all proceeds going to the Irish Red Cross.
Over in Galway, local covers band No Alibi are hoping to raise between €5,000 and €10,000 with gigs at Browne's Wool Store, Tuam (January 29) and Richardson's Bar, Galway (February 5).
Meanwhile, U2 have recommended six charities for fans to make online donations to – The United Nations World Food Programme, The UK Disasters Emergency Committee, The American Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières International Tsunami Emergency Appeal, Sarvodaya Relief Fund for Tsunami Tragedy and UNICEF South Asia Tsunami Relief Efforts.
There were brief fears that a holidaying Adam Clayton was among the casualties, but thankfully the part of Malaysia he was in wasn't struck by the freak wave.
North of the border, January 7 finds Alan Simms, Paul McLean Phil Kieran, Timmy Stewart, Chris Agnew and Rigsy from Across The Line headlining a fundraising dance session in Belfast's Garrick Bar.
There's an even bigger bash on January 23 when Driving By Night, Corrigan, Debonaires, Fighting With Wire, Just A Word, The Zoo, Element, Olympic Lifts, Elation, Edgeweather, Ski Bunny, Chris Caul and many other local luminaries join forces for an all-dayer in The Spring &amp; Airbreak in Katy Daly's.
In the UK, Cardiff's Millennium Stadium is hoping to stage a 60,000-capacity disaster relief gig on January 22 with all manner of big names, including U2, mooted to appear.
There's been an equally positive response in the States with Linkin' Park setting the Music For Relief initiative into motion with a $100,000 donation, and Willie Nelson topping the bill at a fundraiser in Austin, Texas.
