Default Glen's new album Didn't He Ramble

Stream:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/wha...-album-stream/
or
http://www.npr.org/2015/09/09/438902...idnt-he-ramble

I haven't listened yet.
(I keep telling myself that it's because I didn't have the time, but I know that's a poor excuse 'cause I could be listening right now. I guess I'm just preoccupied with a couple of other new songs at the moment. Also I'm a bit scared I won't like the new album as much as the previous)

it's a nice album. I only listened to the stream once, though

Here's a gig he did for KCRW
http://www.kcrw.com/music/shows/morn...ard-2015-09-16

He talked about Damien and their friendship during the interview, at around min 37
he also mentioned Lisa before introducing Her Mercy at 1h9m

thanks girls! i listened to it a couple of times and it´s growing on me. mccormack´s wall and my little ruin are my favourite so far. her mercy is just so powerful live that it seems to be quite weak on the album, but still lovely.

i´m so looking forward to catching him live again... fingers crossed!

The video was great! Thanks Eva! I know a couple people went to his show on Wednesday night. How was it? Were there many people there? Any reviews?

Glen Hansard and band have played Admiralspalast, Berlin, last night, and I was there. Openers were The Lost Brothers from Ireland and to be honest, I didn't know what they were doing there. So straight to the main act...

Glen and band opened with "Bird of Sorrow", so calm, so powerful, such a rush of raw human emotion ("with the faithful"!), followed by Philander. Two of my favourites from his solo streak. Great! He and the band (bass, drums, electric guitar, cello, violin, piano, brass trio) were in great form and gave us a long evening. He wasn't too chatty though, didn't talk to us at all until the 5th song. It felt like he is focused on the music, these days, and on his legacy in music.

Here is the setlist:

Bird Of Sorrow
Philander
Just To Be The One
Winning Streak
Little Ruin
When Your Mind's Made Up
White Sulfur (Jason Molina Cover)
What Happens When The Heart Just
Astral Weeks
Come Away To The Water
Paying My Way
High Hope
McCormack's Wall
Lowly Deserter
This Gift
Her Mercy
Stay The Road
Say It To Me Now (unplugged)
Gold (unplugged)

Encore:
Falling Slowly
How Did We Forget? (Sung By Ruth O'Mahony, El Perro Del Mar Cover)
Love Don't Leave Me Waiting
Didn't He Ramble
Corrina Corrina (Sung By The Lost Brothers, Ray Peterson Cover)
The Auld Triangle

Encore 2:
Passing Through

Videos will probably pop up today and tomorrow. Here is "Her Mercy": https://youtu.be/Nr5jgkGwwFA

Ryan le Garrec did an interview and filmed some lovely little fragments when Glen was in Brussels. https://vimeo.com/141538722

It was great! Probably quite similar to the Berlin concert from what you've written. They played the first five songs without any ado in between. Then Glen got chattier and he and the band seemed to enjoy themselves as much as the rest of the packed room. He kept inviting us to sing little parts along, as seems to be his habit, and we also got The Aulde Triangle and Passing through as encores (amongst others, like his unplugged Say it to now, which remains impressive even the third time I've seen it live). No real surprises, I guess, except for a couple of requested Frames tunes, but I had a blast nonetheless since he's such a presence on stage and it all seems very natural. Plus, I just love his brass section. :-)

Saw Glen Saturday. Semi private radio station show at this cool little theatre on the south side of Chicago. First 75% was excellent. All the new songs sounded way better live. Horn section added to old songs was also very cool.

Last 25% was brutal. No fault of Glen's. The crowd was so disrespectful. Glen sang a couple of Jason Molina songs and lost one side of the theatre near the bar. They were turned around and talking. Pretty loudly. Glen yelled at them to leave if the wanted to talk. That maybe the songs didn't mean anything to them but they meant something to him. And then walked off stage finishing about 30-45 minutes early. Bummer.

Cool.
The line up is pretty neat this year. Keaton Henson & Low are playing as well.
I just hope they're streaming the whole thing again

Has anyone seen Glen in the past few days? Just curious as to what time he takes the stage. We'll be at the Beacon show, but a friend won't be able to get there on time.

Default Don't miss these Glen shows!

Hello everyone, it's been awhile

To the person asking about timing, my recent Glen show was:

Doors: 7:00
Support: 8:00
Glen: 9:15 - 11:30

I'd say figure 2 hrs after doors and you're probably good, but best to call venue box office day of show to be sure.

I've been seeing Glen in various musical forms for a very long time... the show I saw on this Didn't He Ramble tour was one of the very best! I wanted to dance, sing, cry, Holla amen, laugh and just revel all night.

I know there's only the 2 NYC shows left in the US, but if you're able to go to Brooklyn tonight (not sold out) you MUST GO! Sooooooooo worth it!

The Beacon's curfew is usually a strict 11:00p.m. - though I've seen shows that have gone long there (one of which was Damo in '04 with The Frames as support)

Wish I could get out to Brooklyn tonight, but it's just not in the cards for me.

That's why I said start with doors time and maybe add 2 hrs - maybe doors are 6:30 for tomorrow night? Best bet always is to call the Beacon's box office tomorrow. By about 2:00 they should know the schedule, if they don't already.

I was at that '04 Damo/Frames show, that was wonderful!

I probably didn't realize there was a strict curfew... but I remember a great show
