Damien is a healer. He is trying to heal the world with his music. That's so inspiring...

think it might be the blonde girl doing backing vocals, cannot remember her name now, the one that sang What If I'm Wrong with him at Santa Barbara...

attempt at lyrics
Of all the foolish things to do I became a conoisseur of great excuse in my pessimistic past the blame will never make this go away Of all the foolish things I've said that keep me sleepy, almost dead I'm sorry if I've let you down my eyes were closed, they're open now I'm waking up, I am waking up (x repeat) And this has all been said before I've listened but then I ignored my ears grew deaf, my head gave up the junkie knows not when to stop Of all the foolish alibis the constant pain and push for why I had a blanked pulled over my eyes oh hush now baby don't you cry I'm waking up, I am waking up (x repeat)

^It's sort of too 'clean' to me. But maybe he needs to do this kind of pretty stuff for a while or something, for his own sake. I'd like a bit of dirt in there. It's just so neat from the get-go and throughout. Oh well, maybe I'll like next song better?

^ Yeah. I agree it is too "clean" for me too. I don't like the end at all. I want it muddier. I loved "What if I'm wrong" , the build up, the emotion, classic Damien. This is ok, but I have higher expectations for him. This song is too pretty. But like you said, it could be the space that he is in and/or needs to be in right now. I respect that. You can't be miserable all the time. Although, it does usually produce better music.

I agree that it's meh. Just doesn't leave any impression. The only thing I remember after a listening that the end is a Beatles rip-off.

It did remind me of the Beatles at the end, but it doesn't seem like a rip off. I like the muddier songs that are full of emotion as well, but if you aren't in that place emotionally, it may come across as fake. It shows his range, and variety is good.

I wanted to love it because it feels like it's been forever since we've had anything new from him, but it just isn't doing anything for me.
Really love WIIW, though. |

Yeah, it's OK I suppose, and it's great to hear his voice on something new. But, without wanting to sound too negative, if I heard it as a b-side (or on a compilation album) I'd think 'hmm, that's quite nice' and then never listen to it again. Would I like it at all if it wasn't Damien's voice? Probably not.
It's kind of like Grey Room meets Hey Jude, but not as good as that should be, haha. |

i like the song maybe because it just shows a new side of damien. i understand that it could come across as "meh"... but i guess when you're in the right mood for it it's perfect! i'm just really happy that he released something new out of his suitcase!
it might have been posted already, but i love her voice. it kind of reminds me of lisa. and i think damien's and her voice just fit together just as his did with lisa's...
