I LIKE THIS SONG!!! Thanks, Damo.

The sound is very pro.
I miss the homestudio sound of O. But that's me and my nostalgia.

Maybe when he finish waking up we'll have #3 jajajajaj

It's kind of like Grey Room meets Hey Jude, but not as good as that should be, haha.
For me it also sounded alla beatles!! It might be the chorus.

^^The "la-la-la-la" part in the end is from All You Need is Love.

People in general are never happy. If the guy is doing nothing is called lazy-stoned-hippie...whatever...when he does is not good enough...I'm not criticizing you or defending Damien. I actually loved to see many different opinions when I still don't have one ;-P
it is just that it seems we have too high expectations all the time and maybe forget to appreciate what we get. But anyway I didn't like the jajajaja lalala rara ra either. Maybe the song was made to fit the proposition of the album or something..."under the tongue" and "What if I'm wrong "are definitely more" our " style hehehe

That's what I hear too.

And I agree with Jo in that I do like her voice. It does sounds like Lisa's and they do fit well together.

I really really like the song. Though I agree that it could use a little more dirt.

Still, good to hear some new stuff.

I think that the song is full of emotion. It's just a different emotion than what we are used to from Damien. It has more tenderness. I think he has said many times that a lot of the songs from the past he doesn't feel anymore because he isn't in that place anymore. Artist grow and change. As far as sounding similar to the Beatles, I can think of a lot of wonderful music that sounds influenced by them, but weren't they a pretty influential band? And what if the Beatles had not grown out of songs like 'Love me do, or Please Please me?' Then there would be no Abbey Road. I go through moods where I listen to early Beatles, then moods where I listen to later Beatles. I love them equally. My favorite George Harrison song is 'My Sweet Lord' which he was sued for because it sounds like 'He's so fine' by the Chiffons, which was subconscious. I don't mind if he is influenced by the Beatles, but then again the only music I am obsessed with happens to be The Beatles and Damien Rice!

i sort of agree... but i do believe that the song fits lyrical and musically for both futuro of hope and this album purposes.

i found myself humming the song this afternoon, but i didn´t aware of what song was after a while. i think it might mean that i do like it, which it´s true

If anything, I feel the word I walk with after listening to this track is, "intrigued"

Not necessarily pertaining to the purity of the context of the song, but to where exactly his next album will take us. Some fans are calling for a grittier tongue lashing in these tracks, while many are taking this in as the uplifting turn a friend hopes for another when that other person is going through a rough patch.

Regardless though, this release along with Under the Tongue can only make you wonder what exactly the follow up will not only sound like but more importantly feel like. These two tracks matched with that hotpress interview, I'm waiting to see what picture a complete album will paint.

Excited.

I think this might be the song he is humming from 10 days.

I love the lyrics and the vocals are nice. I don't like it when he has all the people sing with him and All the different sounds at the end. It's a bit conflated like making noise. Reminds me of Dewey Cox in "Walk Hard."

Also the music sorta sounds like the demo track from an electronic keyboard at radio shack.

Not trying to hate. But I dint really like it. I wish he would get fired up.

I'm kinda meh about this song right now too... I like it but I also find the lyrics to be kind of round... if that makes any sense? It's very different too so maybe it's just some adjusting that's needed but it's a nice song but i'm not in love with it like i want to be. maybe it'll grow on me :P

That's definitively not a song he would release on one of his albums.
Doing side projects, for great causes most of the time is a good thing.
He is still composing and is talented.
Very decent song. ^^

It's nice to hear a fully formed song from him. Been too long.

I like it... I also was expecting something a bit more protest-y, and I like that at first glance, the lyrics are a bit broader.

the more i listen to the song, the more i like it. it's sort of redemption song to me and damien sounds like that to me. too much "lara lara lara..." though.

i'm listening to it from the future of hope soundtrack (i'm listening to the whole soundtrack) and i just noticed that there's a trumpet at the end of the song... i haven't heard it before. nice sound!

Not impressed at all. I've kind of given up hope of him ever releasing anything that is even comparable to his best ever again, which is sad.

It's pretty damn chipper for a Damien song. His angsty, dark pieces give me more of a bigger thrill. But it's wonderful to hear his voice again. I could also do without the freaking la la las. I mean, really.

I agree with everything you said but I think "the joke he knows not when to stop" also makes perfect sense. This song is an amazing testament to just how versatile Damo is with all forms and types of instrumentation. Of course it quotes from AYNIL at the end but given the context of the causes it seems to me completely appropriate to do so.
