Paris, Olympia July 4th !!!!
I'm going to the concert in Paris on the 4th of July. I'm so excited!!! This will be my second concert. The first one was in Berlin this year and from that night on I couldn't stop listing to Damien. And now I just read that Vyv and her band will be the openers! How early should I be there?
Is anyone going to see him in Paris? Sooooooo excited!!! |

Very early you have to be. i should recommend 3hours. maybe more, if you want the opportunity to see him come in the olympia to get prepared
otherwise you can visit around and if you see the queue gathering/growing up, stick to it! I have a seat assigned on the 4th so i don't mind coming 3hours or 1 hour before the show. but on the 5th i'll be standing up in the crowd, so i guess i'll follow my advice or i might -as soon as the first gig is over- line up for the next date. I'm trying both options, see how it goes... |

If I see one looser queuing 3hours before, i know who that will be... I'll wave at you. Just kidding. I'll Stand with you
Is there any other Eskimo friends joining us on the 4th ? any chance we stick together before / after the gig waiting for the band? Last edited by cuuliem; 07-01-2007 at 02:12 PM. |

I'll be there too on the 4th. I'm pretty tall, I'll have a red jumper and I have brown hair, but I don't think I'll come 3 hours early...

Does anyone know if there are seats or if we're standing? I tried to figure out what's written on the tickets, but my french is really bad...
Yeah, someone should give him a bottle of wine. I want to sea him perform cheers darlin so bad. He didn't do it in Berlin... |

I'll be seated on the first floor on july 4th, so it's going to be tough (unless i throw the bottle directly at him).
i'll try to check if the security could let us walk in with a /several bottles and i'll bring some on the 5th. i'll be on the ground floor, and i'll try to queue early. I might even sleep in front of the building... Last edited by cuuliem; 07-02-2007 at 10:14 PM. |

I paid 36Euros so I'm standing. That's good, but I hope that no one tall is standing in front of me... I wish I could go on the 5th too, but I'm on a school trip, so I'm not able to go two days to a concert...and I don't have enough money... |

that's why you have to come 3 hours before. if you're the first lining up, you'll be the first to stand in front of the stage

I'll be there
my train arrives at 2:00 so I'll be in a bar close to the Olympia. If you see a girl with long dark hair stuying on didactical sciences books, just come and say hello

bring a coat / an umbrella, it's going to rain.
to all the fellow eskimofriends, I'll bring wine. I'm not sure for whom yet. and maybe a (small) wishcard, if you are in a mood to write something to damo. so if you see a asian looking dude with a pack of 6 bottles, that would be me. I'll give the bottle to the one who could be the closest to the stage |

About security check at the Olympia, it depends on the artists. If you come with a large camera, you'll have to hide it well...It's the same for taping equipment. Generally, there's no problem for small digital cameras. Last edited by olive31; 07-04-2007 at 07:39 AM. |

well it was my 4th damiens gig and i have to say it was not the best
I saw him a few months ago in paris (le grand rex), the setlist was more or les the same and the "acting" thing on cheers darling is fun one time, not two . Damien didnt talk very much, exept when he explained how "Amie" was born, pretty funny what i remember of the setlist : -9crimes -The professor/la fille danse -Volcano/me, my yoke .. -Delicate -Rootless tree -I remember / bang bang -The blowers daugther -Coconut skin -Cheers darlin' (real fans will put that in order and complete what i forgot ) On i Remember some stupid girl spoiled the ending yelling something i didnt understand ... Hope she ll not recognize herself here ! Last edited by El-Fred0; 07-04-2007 at 11:19 PM. |

Hello everyone,
I'll agree with El-Fred0 on this one. I think the gig was not as good as the last one in Paris at le Grand Rex... Indeed, some stupid girl ruined the end of I remember (and I hope she WILL recognise herself!). People shouting over the music, yelling at the start of the song or spending most time taking pics, filming or sending text messages don't make the atmosphere any better... I understand why Damien could get fed up of this... Damien was indeed not very talkative, and the Cheers Darlin' acting resembled what he did during the last gig, but just not as good... What he did was smoke a cigarette and drink 3 (4?) glasses of wine while singing over the music that was been played with a tape. Some of the songs he played and that were missing from El-Fred0 setlist : Accidental babies, Woman like a man, Fool like you (and Amie of course that El-Fred0 mentioned) Let's hope tonight's gig will be better! |

The stupid stupid (let's hope she was drunk) girl kept yelling "Eskimo friend".
I was at the Rex too, and both shows were great in my opinion. Yesterday, Accidental Babies was beautiful and Volcano was done in a way I've not heard before. I Remember was quite long and somewhat different from what he usually does. I'm a little bit puzzled about the tape for Cheers...why not use the band ? great show with surprises, that's what I like with Damien. Oh and I think the show was filmed...maybe a DVD soon ? |

I think the Parisian audience got lucky. First with Vyvienne's opening set, she was great.
Then Damien who was in very good mood last night. He did special additional french lyrics for "La fille danse", told us the story of "Amie" (talking french), and we enjoyed this version of "I remember", including part of "Bang, bang (my baby shot me down)", that lasted nearly 20 minutes... We missed "Cannonball" and also "Eskimo", "Elephant" or even "Dogs". |

Nice pictures!
Is it just me, or is I Remember turning into some sort of spectacle of it's own that could take up the entire show if he wanted to.. Not that I'm complaining, I'd love to pay money to go to the performance of "I Remember" (El-Fred0, I love, love, LOVE your avatar! ) |

yeah, sorry, i feel is was a bit fussy with my first comment... the gig was indeed very good and i think it was disappointing to me because part of it resembled the gig at le Grand Rex but other bits were great: I remember is, indeed, more than a song, now. And Coconut skins is great live song.
